"Brody, explain to me why you thought it would be a good idea to bring the one person I hate more than anyone here. It doesn't make me want to help you."
My dad laughed. "The feeling is mutual, my dear."
Brody changed the subject. "So, you're close with Neal?"
"You could say that." As in I'm a love sick fool who turns to butter around him.
"Good. I need you to get the feds off my heel."
"I don't have connections to Feds. I don't deal with their shit."
My dad smirked, "Cami, don't curse. It's such a terrible habit." I flipped him off."You have no right to call me Cami, you jackass."
"Neal has connections to feds. I assume you've heard of Peter, Neal's 'friend'."
"I have. I'm wearing a bug for him right now. So fuck you."
"Shit. I thought you hated feds, Cami."
"I thought you were smarter than to assume. I guess you're still a stupid second grader with arachnophobia."
"Well it's not my fault that my dad couldn't teach me anymore. It's Neal's. Fuck him." I'm trying to... 😑.
"I thought my dad was dead. Or maybe I just hoped." I smirked.
"Young lady, you may be 25, but I'm still your father."
"Ha! You, a father? That's a good one. I was a better parent to myself than you ever were."
Brody was still pissed about the bug.
"Have you met Peter?"
"No, and I don't particularly want to. Anyone who can catch Neal is not someone I want to meet."
"I caught him."
"I'm assuming Peter wasn't fueled by family 'values'. Hey, 'Dad' how about our family values?"
"Kill anyone close to someone who wronged you."
"That's fun, so you guys wanna kill Neal." They nodded, skeptical.
"You aren't the first," Neal said, coming up behind me. Brody's fists clenched.
"I'm hoping we are the last. You will be dead when we are done." Brody really was pisssed. He's funny when he thinks he's strong. He did have big muscles. Maybe i don't have a shot with Neal. But...
"Neal, fuck off. I can handle these two losers. The old one's my father."
"Fine. But I'll be with Alex."
"No." I ripped the bug from behind my ear and handed it to him. "I can handle this."
Neal walked away. He knows that I can take these guys.
"Dad, if you could be a good person for once and get me a water from that cart over there, that'd be great." I was smiling. Ew.
He left. Now it was just Brody and I.
I bit my lip and grabbed his hand. "Come on, where do you live?"
