A scream echoed through the house at around two o'clock in the morning. Dark jointed awake earning a sharp stab of pain coursing through his back. He laid there eyes squeezed shut as he waited for the pain to ease up. The screaming continued as he got up slowly and walked down the hall to try to pinpoint the screaming as he heard it louder and louder. Dark tilted his head and walked further down the hall.
"Oh no." He whispered as he realized where the sound was coming from. It was coming from their newest brother's room. Eric. He rushed in and sure enough there was his youngest brother screaming and crying his lungs out in his sleep. He shook his shoulders gently trying his best to be gentle as Eric woke screaming. He layed here panting wide eyed.
"You ok? You were screaming in your sleep. " Dark asked.
"I...I...I'm fine. S...S..S..Sorry I w...w...woke you u...u..u..up S....S...Sir. " Eric stammered out scared out of his mind at the Ego before him. He had heard horror stories about Dark and now he just woke up one of the people he was told not to make upset. He was ready for the yelling of his life or worse.
"It's fine Eric and you don't have to call me sir. Dark is perfectly fine." Dark said and Eric looked a bit shocked.
"O...O..Ok. D....D...Dark." Eric stammered out still extremely frightened.
"You were really screaming. What was your nightmare about?" Dark asked.
"C....C...Crash S...S..Sir I mean Dark I'm so sorry!" Eric said.
"Oh I see. I have nightmares too. One I can't seem to wake up from that is extremely terrifying." Dark said.
"R...R...Really?" Eric stammered out.
"Yes. Can you scoot over Eric?"
"Y...Y..Yes. D...D...Dark Sir." Eric said scooting over as much as he could with having no legs. Dark laid down wrapping an arm around his trembling brother.
"W...W...What are you D...D...Doing?" Eric asked scared.
"I'm sleeping beside you tonight. I want to make sure you have a good night sleep and if you have another nightmare, I'm right here for you to hold onto and cry on." Dark said as lovingly as he could.
"O..O..Ok. " Eric said keeping to his side of the bed like statue.
"Go on. Cuddle up beside big brother Dark. I'm not going to bite." Dark said smiling. There wasn't even a ringing or blackness. Just a small red and blue glow radiating off of Dark's skin. Eric scooted a bit closer to Dark and laid his head on his chest.
"Th...Th...Thank you D...D...Dark." Eric said starting to fall asleep.
"You're welcome Eric." Dark said yawning. Dark made sure Eric was ok before drawing the cover up over both of them and falling asleep as well.
The next night Eric nearly fell out of his bed to the distorted two layered screaming of Dark. Someone must have made him mad if he was screaming like that, but as Eric listened he realized it wasn't anger screaming. It was shear fright screaming. Putting on his legs he slowly made his way down to Dark's room. He slowly opened the door to see Dark holding the sheets of his bed in a death grip screaming at the top of his lungs. Eric slowly went to Dark's bed just as Dark screamed awake. Dark put his hands in his hair panting and then looked at Eric and sighed.
"N..N..Nightmare?" Eric asked.
"Yes. Didn't have one last night. I guess it was because I was with you." Dark said.
"Y... Y...You want me to st..st..stay?" Eric asked.
"Sure if you want." Dark said lifting the covers as Eric sat down took off his legs and laid beside Dark.
"W...W..What was it about?" Eric asked.
"I was falling. I can't wake up from it no matter how I hard I try. I was falling and hit the the ground and died." Dark said halfway tearing up.
"Th...Th..That's sad." Eric said holding his brother close.
"Yeah." Dark said.
"I...I..I'll cuddle with you." Eric said moving closer to Dark. Dark covered them both back up as Eric yawned. Eric fell asleep before Dark did again and the next morning Dark had a revelation.
"Eric. You didn't have a nightmare last night and I didn't have one the night before. I think if we sleep beside each other we won't have nightmares." Dark said smiling.
"I...I..I agree." Eric said smiling. It was true. He had a nightmare every night except last night.
"Your bed or mine tomorrow for night cuddles?" Dark asked.
"Mine please." Eric said without stuttering.
"Alright." Dark said smiling. He hoped this would help stop Eric's nightmares as well as his own.
