This was it.

My first day at my new job and i was thrilled. Being involved in a major corporation like Reeds, Inc. was never something i would"ve imagined i could accomplish. Even if i was just a desk clerk, i was working for the company of my dreams.

Reeds, Inc. was responsible for publishing books that other companies wouldn't take a second look at. Books that other companies would deem mediocre, was Mr. Daniel Reed's pot of gold. Everyone dreamed of being a famous author one day. The company would take a book, change some some minor details and wording and viola! It made billions each year. 16.4 billion per year on average to be exact.  I, Samantha White, was officially an employee of Reeds, Inc.

Bzzzt Bzzzt. I checked my phone. Damn junk mail. Holy Balls! It was 7:30 and i had to be into work for 8:00! I still had to shower, dress, do my makeup and hair. I had been sitting here in my bed daydreaming about this damn job when i should've been getting ready. Yeah, be late on your first day. They'll definately keep you.

I rushed out of bed and jumped directly into the shower, not even allowing the water to get hot first. I took my shower in record time. I still had 25 minutes left. I dried my dark hair and tied it up into a neat bun and quickly threw on some eyeliner, mascara and blush. Thank God i have clear skin. Racing to my closet, i mentally picked out a pair of black slacks and a turquoise silk blouse with ruffles along my midline. I dressed, grabbed my phone, threw it into my purse and ran for the door. Attempting to put my heels on and grab a cereal bar out the pantry, I stumbled and nearly blew my face out on the kitchen counter. I managed to resteady myself and ran out the door.

I'm glad i picked an apartment five minutes away because when i entered the enormous building there was a stern-looking woman at the front desk waiting for me.

"You were almost late," said the woman with squinted eyes. She was tall, thin and had crows-feet around the corners of her eyes. She looked to be around 45 years old. Her blonde hair wrapped tightly in a bun and her crossed arms told me she was not a woman who messed around.

”I-I'm sorry. I L-Lost track of time. It won't happen again."

"Indeed it won't. I do not tolerate tardiness Ms. White." I couldn't help but to respect the woman. She had an intimidating quality about her. "My name is Carolyn Franklinton. I will be the woman in charge of your training for the next two weeks. You will show up punctually to work everyday, wear your hair and clothes neatly, and act professionally around everyone you come into contact with in this office. Mr. Reeds does not like being made a fool of. Do you understand?"

Jeez. I wasn't even late. I am deffinately not going to piss this lady off and especially not Mr. Reeds. Keep it cool Samantha, this is your dream job. This is what you studied all those hours in school for. I cleared my throat and agreed to Mrs. Franklinton's instructions.

"Very well then, come along. Mr. Reeds would like to see you in his office and formally introduce himself."

I bit down nervously on my bottom lip as we road the elevator to the top floor. Carolyn stood next to me hands positioned one in front of the other in a calm, collected way. She took a side glance at me and raised an eyebrow. Fumbling over my words i said, "I'm fine. Nervous is all." she didn"t respond but simply smirked at me. Wow, a sign of emotion.

We reached the top floor and stepped out of the elevator. I followed closely behind as she lead us to the receptionist's desk. The woman there smiled graciously at us and pressed a finger on her mic. "Mr. Reeds?"

"Yes, Kaitlyn."

"Mrs. Franklinton and Ms. White are here."

"Great, send them in, please."

The receptionist pointed us the room to the left of us. I followed Mrs. Franklinton to the massive room and when we stepped in my jaw nearly hit the floor. This was breath-taking. The dark Hardwood floors shined bright from the sun from the massive wall-sized window. The spotless white walls were covered with dark wood framed art. I didn't recognize the artist, but the pictures were beautiful. One was of a beach side and light tower, one was a little country farm house with the greenest grass i've ever seen. In the corner of the room was a red couch and next to it a enormous bookshelf filled with so many books there had to be at least 800 of them.

"Hello, Ms. White," sung the husky, angelic voice from across the room. I picked my jaw up from the ground and turned on my toes to meet a pair of piercing green eyes.
