Doug

Another month passed, and now it was October 1st.

As I read through one of my textbooks, the autumn wind hit against my dorm window, but I ignored it.

"God, I can't wait for Winter Break!" I grumbled in my head.

'You know what would make you feel better?'

I rolled my eyes, "You fucking off? Zen-Aku, I'm not going anywhere else tonight."

'I know that!' He barked, 'What I mean is; I've noticed a bunch of students getting together, I believe they call it "study groups".'

"I'm not gonna just ask to join a random group of people to figure out some stupid books." I bit.

'How hard could it be?'

"For someone like me? Very!" I snapped in annoyance.

'You humans worry about the stupidest things.'

"Says the wolf Duke Org."

'Okay, point taken.'

I rolled my eyes and continued to read.

Of course, I heard a knock on the door, which made me jump a bit before I glared at the entrance as I got up to possibly open it.

"Who is it?" I sighed.

"I'm Marsha Grandel, I was told that I had to speak to a... Doug Leary about a school assignment by Prof. Zachary?" The one outside informed me slowly.

I frowned, "I didn't get the memo."

"He just told me."

I sighed and opened it.

Sure enough, one of my classmates was standing right outside.

"Come in." I stepped aside, letting her through.

As she walked inside, I noticed how much her raven black hair bounced against her skin... And how much of a beautiful smirk she had on her face...

'Merrick, you better not be drooling over some girl.'

I ignored the Wolf Duke.

"So... what class?" I asked kindly, "Prof. Zachary had two that I'm in."

"American History." She answered, "I'm good at World History... but I suck at American."

"Ah." I nodded, "Alright... so, what's the problem?"

"...I suck at American history, what do you think?"

I chuckled lightly, "I see... you want me to tutor you?"

"If it's not too much trouble..."

'It is.'

"No trouble at all." I assured kindly, "Shut it, Zen-Aku, she's cute!"

'And that hasn't been bad before?'

I ignored him again.

"Here." I sat her by my desk and pulled one of my other seats up to sit at as she sat in mine.

"Alright... so... where are you?" I looked at her work.

As we finished up, I walked her to the door.

"Thanks for your help." She let out.

I smiled a bit, "It's my pleasure... wanna meet up tomorrow?"

She shook her head, "No... I'm gonna study with some others."

"Oh." I blinked, "I get it. Well... I hope you get an A."

With that, Marsha walked away, and I closed the door and hit my head against it.

'Smooth...' Zen-Aku commented.

"Put a fork in it!" I growled before I walked to my kitchen.

'Merrick, she's a girl!'

"I'm well aware of that, thank you." I rolled my eyes as I made myself dinner, which was basically gonna be chopped vegetables.

'How can you like a girl after that White Tiger?'

My hand nearly slipped and I almost cut myself at that.

"Leave, Alyssa, out of this!" I demanded.

'Ah, so you admit it.'

"I don't!" I punched the wall.

It didn't shatter or anything... but, I had a mark on my fist.

I pulled it back, rubbing it softly.

"I don't love anyone..." I whispered to myself.

'Keep telling yourself that.'

I closed my eyes and started crying.
