        Bang!

        Bang!

        Bang!

I was quickly jolted awake by someone knocking on my bedroom door. I immediately sat up, worried we were under attack. The door opened and my Mom walked in, a smile on her face. I let out a relieved sigh and looked at her with a raised eyebrow.

"Come on, sweetheart," She said in her soft voice. "It's your first day of training. You don't want to be late, do you?"

I laughed. I was late to practically late for everything, except for those things that I actually wanted to do. But I actually did want to begin training, I was so excited I could hardly believe it was finally happening. It felt like a dream. Mom's smile grew a little bit wider and I shook my head.

"I'll be right down." I replied. She nodded and left me to get ready.

I got out of bed and ran through the upstairs hall to the end where the bathroom was. I was relieved no one was in there. I took a quick shower, enjoying the warm water after my restless night's sleep. When the water turned an icy cold I got out. Wrapping the towel around my body, I made my way back down the hall to my room. I threw on some black jeans and a black tee before brushing out my hair and pulling it back in a ponytail.

Without even looking at the full-sized mirror hanging on my door I left my room and silently walked down the stairs. I smiled as soon as I stepped off the stairs and saw my trainer. He was the son of Saynine-Thar. The Thar's son's name was Asik.

His jet-black hair was cut short and his stunning green eyes were glued on the bowl of cereal on the kitchen counter in front of him. If I hadn't stepped on the creaky board just then, I might've been able to scare him. He turned to look at me and flashed a charming grin. I returned it and moved around him to pour myself a bowl. He sat on one of the two kitchen stools and watched silently as I worked.

"Good morning, Nuno." He said, his deep voice friendly.

"Asik." I replied, giving him a small nod. He let out a short laugh.

"No need to be so formal, Nuno," He chuckled. "I may be your trainer but don't forget, I'm still your friend."

I smiled. I'd known Asik for years, ever since I was 4. I practically grew up with the guy. But it wasn't that surprising. The children of the Thar were usually very close to the children of the Beta. He was a hotheaded 17 year old with discipline as hard as rock, just like all the rest of us. If we weren't disciplined by the time we were 7, we'd be in so much trouble it wouldn't even be funny. He'd only just gotten out of training a few months ago. He was exactly 4 and 3 quarters years older than me but we were closer than Mates.

        "Thanks Asik."

When we were born we were given three names. Our last name would be the same as our parents, not really anything different from other mortals. Our first name would be the name our Clan knew us by. And our middle name would be the one we used when humans or any creature other than our own kind were around. My full name was Nuno Violet Pool. Asik's was Asik Valdez Cutshaw.

"No problem," He ate a mouthful of cereal as I placed my bowl on the counter and sat on the stool beside him. "So, are you excited for the Ceremony tonight."

I nodded excitedly. The Ceremony was the most important part of a young Weretiger's life, where they shift for the first time, in front of the Clan. It's when you are officially a working member of the Clan. I was also kind of nervous. I mean, it's the first time I'm going to shift. What if something goes wrong? What if I don't shift at all and they think I'm an attention hog? What if we're attacked by werewolves? Or rouges? So many things could go wrong. Asik seemed to read my mind.
