It's (Not) Our Final Goodbye

I collapsed onto the trial room floor, tired and dizzy.

Everyone had left before that happened though.

The 4 other people alive here, Shuichi, Tsumugi, Himiko and Kiibo.

They'd left me alone here, thinking I was going to go back to my room too, like they were.

...

What would've he done?

Would he leave me here alone and upset, like the others did or...

...

Would he have stayed by my side and comfort me...?

I sat there on the grass like I had before.

I stared up at the stars.

The beautiful, beautiful stars.

'Did he think they were beautiful too...? '

I didn't bother thinking if he thought I was beautiful.

It's not like I would get an answer.

I continued to gaze at the stars.

After gazing at the stars a bit longer, a heard someone, or something, moving next to me.

I quickly turned my head to my right and...

"Gasp!"

I lost all train of thought.

I lost all of what was around me.

...

I lost him...

.........

...So how is he right here?

I stare at him, with open eyes.

"...K...Kai...to...?"

My voice cracked multiple times and was hardly audible.

...Is it really him?

I continued staring at him in awe.

...It can't be real, though...

'...You just miss him, is all...'

I kept repeating that in my head.

Over and over and over again.

Just as he tilted his head so I could see his face, he disappeared.

'See? Your mind's just playing tricks on you.'

Suddenly, something wrapped around my ribs and rested their head on my shoulder.

"There's no words to describe your beauty. Not even the whole galaxy could compare to your beauty. Don't give up...and make it outta here with everyone else..."

I did my best to quickly turn my head to see his face, one last time.

But, I was only left with one, small present.

A kiss.

Even if it wasn't real...

Even if I don't meet him again...

...No....

It was real...

I will meet him again..

Even if it means I have to die trying...

I will see Kaito again...!

"...all I can do right now is believe in myself in the others, like Kaito would."

I then hear someone walk towards me.

"...are you alright, Maki?"

"...yeah...hey Shuichi."

"Huh? What is it?"

"...if Kaede, somehow, appeared in front of you, after she died...would you believe that what she said...was truly from her and not what you thought she'd say to you...?"

"...would believe me if I said that I saw her, one last time, after I went to her Ultimate Lab?"

"...what I mean is, I believed it was, and still, truly believe that what she said...wasn't something I thought she'd say to me but, something she would've said from the bottom of her heart."

I look up at Shuichi, a small smile on my lips.

"Well, come on. We can't skip out on training like that Idiot did."

Shuichi and I laughed and talked about Kaito and Kaede for awhile after we did our usual 100 push ups.

Shuichi, soon after, headed to his dorm.

I could tell he felt better after talking about all the pain he went through.

And, I too, felt better.

I headed to my dorm to go get some rest.

Just as I opened the door to the dorms, I thought I heard him say...

                          "The impossible is possible, all you gotta do is make it so!"
