I walk into the Lockwood mansion and look around. Nothing has changes since I've last been here, which should be around 7 years ago. The house is decorated with a lot of flowers, maids running around being busy to make sure everything looks good for the funeral. I notice Carol Lockwood, the sheriff and an unknown, but very attractive man standing in the living room, talking. I walk a little closer, but wait just behind the half open door. 'I want to know exactly who is responsible for killing my husband!' I hear Carol say with an angry voice. 'I'm looking into it, but you have to be straight with me: is there any reason Richard was affected by the vampire device?' the sheriff asks Carol. Vampire device? What the hell are they talking about?
'What are you implying? That he was one of them?' Carol says, offended. 'No, no. No one's implying anything.' The mystery man says. Who is he? 'Your deputy screwed up, plain and simple, which makes you responsible.' Carol says while crossing her arms in front of her chest. 'Your husband is the one who helped John Gillbert execute his idiot plan in the first place!' The sheriff defends herself.
'Excuse me, can I help you?' A maid suddenly asks, making me jump a little. 'No thanks, I'm just gonna go outside.' I sigh as I almost sprint out of the door. What was that conversation about? I sit down on the stairs in front of the house, and sigh as I stare at a car driving in my direction. It stops, and no one less than Tyler Lockwood gets out. 'Tyler!' I yell and he smiles when he notices me. 'Rosie!' He runs towards me and we fall into each other's arms. 'God, it's so good to see you again! It's been way too long!' He says and I nod. 'You look handsome! Puberty did you good, hm?' I say, making him blush a little, and then we both burst out in laughter. 'Well well well, two black sheep's returning home on one day? Who would have thought that.' I hear a deep voice say behind me, and Tyler and I both turn around.
'Mason?!' I say as I smile. 'Who else?' He laughs as he grabs me into a tight hug. 'Look at that, everyone reunited.' I hear Carol's voice say and I jump a little. 'Hey honey.' She says as she pulls me in for a hug and presses a kiss on my cheek. 'Mason.' She says while giving him a simple nod. 'I'm sorry about Richard.' I say to all three of them. 'Thank you dear. I'm so glad you could come. How's your mom?' She asks. 'Good, I guess. Travelling as always. She asked me to give you her condolences, and she's sorry she couldn't make it.'
'Yeah well, tell her I said hi. So, where are you staying?' She asks me. 'I'm staying at my grandma's, of course. My parents are always gone anyways so they won't even notice I'm here.' We all laugh. 'Ah, you were always the smart one. Well, Tyler, we should take care of the last things, are you coming?' She asks and he nods while following her inside. 'So, she seemed happy to see me.' Mason says and we laugh. 'I'm sorry about your brother.' I say while putting my hand on his arm. 'Yeah... thanks.' He says looking sad and I pull him in for a hug. He presses a kiss on my forehead. 'I missed you.' He says softly. 'I missed you too.'
Mason and I are about the same age. My parents were best friends with Carol and Richard, and our family's property's are right next to each other, some pieces of the big woods are even from the both of us. Mason lived with them, because his parents were veeery old when they accidentally had him, and they died shortly after. So the three of us were always together. Every day, every weekend, every family vacation. Every adventure we had as kids, we did together. When Mason and I both left for college, we dated for a few years, but broke up when he moved to Florida, and my parents and I to Canada. Still, we would meet up at least every summer at my grandma's lake house, here in mystic falls, with Tyler, but we didn't last summer, so we haven't seen each other for over a year. My parents and I never had a really good bond. They were always working, and when they weren't, we were always together with the Lockwood's, which meant the three of us had to go 'play and have fun', but mostly not bother the adults.
'So, where are you staying?' I ask Mason. 'Don't know yet, I was going to ask Carol to stay here.' He says with a frown, and we laugh a little. 'Just stay with me at my grandma's place. You know she always adored you.' I say and he nods. 'Thanks! I haven't seen that woman in way too long.' My grandma is the sweetest person on earth, and was a real grandma for both Mason and Tyler. Tyler still visits her a few times a week, and my grandma and I write and call as much as we can, so she is going to be super excited to see me and Mason again.
