Present

         Frozen. That's what he was as he picked up the manilla folder which seemed to be begging for his attention ever since the moment he had discarded it on the kitchen counter in the trade of the now burnt out cigarette, which sat inside the trashcan far off in the corner. He had not expected to see what he did when he opened the folder, it was a new case file, of course, but the particular photo which rested on the front page was the same girl who had haunted both his dreams and nightmares for years on end. Those same eyes which cut into him every hour of day ever since he was but a young man turned up once again to torture him. But why? Why must he be put up to face her once again? Why couldn't he just get away? Why did she seem to turn up wherever he went?

          No, the biggest why he held was why she was in the case file he currently held in his hands, and so he flipped the page and began to read, only to soon wish he hadn't after only a few words which tore his mind apart piece by piece. He threw the file down much quicker than he had picked it up and back away until his back hit the hard service of the wall, his breath was quick and erratic as he tightly clenched his shirt in his fist over his heart, which couldn't seem to beat any faster than it already was

         The photo attached to the page disgusted him, vomit easing its way up to his throat and soon into the sink which he rushed to as the vile almost burning substance suddenly filled his mouth. When he was emptied of this, he cleaned both the sink and his mouth then slumped down against the wall where he stared at the file from afar, wishing he could get the memory of it out of his mind. Could she have really done something such as that? Of course, she could've...how could he have forgotten. That horrifying day.
