'The roads go ever, on and on, down from the door where it begun. Now far ahead the road has gone. And I must follow if I can.'

After five years, 'The Hobbit' is still my favorite book. Usually I would read another book after it and instantly it would become my favorite, but this book has always had a place in heart. Even if it does have mud stains and most of the words are smudged.

"Very nearly there, sir." I heard a man say. I looked up from my book and smiled at the painting the market artist was creating. "I have to say, your face is familiar." The man commented. "Have I drawn you before?"

"Occasionally."

I looked past the canvas and at my fiancé who is sitting patiently, waiting for his portrait to be done.

"Of course! I've seen you in the newspaper. You're a reporter?"

"I'm a journalist." He corrected.

As I stared at my fiancé as memories started to flood into my mind. I couldn't believe that Tintin and I have already been dating for five years! He has, without a doubt, become the biggest and most important part of my life. Because of him, my life turned out much differently than in would have if he had not helped me on the day that we met. Because of Tintin, my life was an adventure. One that I could have never dreamed of.

It was only three months ago when Tintin had bought a ring without me knowing and proposed to me. The ring he bought wasn't extravagant. It was a pretty simple gold band with a single diamond fastened to the top. But I didn't care. He told me that he couldn't imagine what his life would look like if he and I hadn't met. He said that he wanted me to stay by his side forever, no matter the dangers that we may face. He promised that he'd protect me from all of them.

I said, "Yes!"

Instead of drifting back to my book, my eyes remained on Tintin. Aside form being taller, not much about him had changed from when we had first met. He still had his round, freckled, rosy cheeks that I had always found adorable. His eyes still shown with light and curiosity that seemed to never fade away. And my favorite of all, he kept his hair the same after all of these years. Almost as if it was there permanently. Not even bed head could tame his signature ginger flip.

I snapped back into reality when Tintin looked my way and gave me a warm smile. A smile that I'll receive every day, but it never seems to fail to make butterflies begin to flutter within my chest. I returned his smile with one of my own.

I was about to go back to my book, but was distracted once again by the wine of Snowy. I had just locked my eyes on the dog when Tintin spoke to him.

"Be patient, Snowy. Not much longer."

I looked at Snowy for a short moment longer. We have had snowy for a good number of years by now. I had helped Tintin adopt Snowy when he was just a puppy. Little did we know at the time that this little dog would save our lives countless times before on our adventures, and I'd easily believe that he's going to save our lives again one day. Snowy was a very good dog.

My eyes traveled back to my book to just miss the sight of Snowy wandering away to a place unknown.

Not much time passed when the artist's voice caught my attention again by saying, "There. I believe I have captured something of your likeness."

I watched Tintin grab the painting to get a better look at it. "Huh. Not bad." He said. Tintin glanced at me before turning the painting around so I could get a good view of it. "What do you think, Lillian?"
