After living the long life I had I was ready to go, having lost everybody didn't really encourage me to keep living. First it was Ginny then my little Lily, James 5 years after and Albus 3 months later. And as the years past their kids seemed to go as well, but death just never seemed to take me. Despite the life I have lived my death wasn't heroic, I didn't go down dueling some bad guy or saving some innocents life. No, I went to sleep one night and didn't wake up, well I did wake up just not in my home. When I awoke I was in an office, it was simple but elegant. Sitting behind the desk was a figure tall, imposing, and wearing all black with a hood over his face. After minuets of silence and studying each other he started talking.
"So I assume you know why you're here and who I am?" he asked his voice a quite rasping sound.
"No actually I-I don't really no why I'm here. I know I went to sleep and woke up in darkness so I assume I'm dead and if I'm dead then you're Death."
"Yes, well I'm going to get straight to the point I don't want to be here longer than necessary it's bad for business. You died after living a long and happy life, but the life you lived isn't the one you were supposed to have. So seeing as you are my master and I want you to live the life you were supposed to have I'm giving you a second chance, you with me so far?"
"Yes, I-I believe so."
"Good because what I'm going to tell you next you're not going to enjoy. After you defeated Voldemort and married the Weasley girl you never noticed the loyalty and love potions you were being drowned in but because you were my master albeit unknowingly I protected you from the more dangerous ones, the Weasley matriarch wanted to use to keep you in check and they stole from your vaults as well."
"Umm thanks I guess for stopping them." I said slightly confused. I knew something had happened with Ginny after a few years into our marriage but I just put off as falling out of love, we stayed with each other for the sake of our children. I also noticed a lot of money was withdrawn, a bigger amount each time.
"You don't seem very surprised." Death said, and I really wasn't, I knew Molly wasn't a nice woman sometimes and I wouldn't put it past her to have Ginny do the same. I just nodded and let him continue.
"Seeing as your my master and one of Magic's Chosen I have decided to give you a couple things. First I have decided since you didn't get to live your life properly I decided to let you retry for lack of better term. You will go back with all your memories of your previous life intact as well as the knowledge you need about being the master of death and anything you might not know that is important. Also to help you with your mission whatever it may be I'm going to be giving you a piece of my power or you can always just go ahead and die but like you won't stay dead."
Thinking it over I realized it was a good idea, and that I could go back and right all my wrongs. Knowing I was already going to agree I didn't put much more thought in to it.
"I'll do it, but first I have few questions. What would the gifts that you're giving me include, and where will I be going back to?"
"The powers you would have would expand your magical core adding to your strength so you can control my power. Because I am death and you are my master I give you the power to take life with just a touch but you have to want to kill them. You will also have the power to restore life, with Life's blessing of course because that's her power but she agreed, she's fond of you and one other of Magic's Chosen. Now are you ready to be sent back?"
Nodding my head "Yes, but you never told me where I was getting dropped." Not answering me he got up from behind the desk and came near me. Reaching two bony finger he placed them on my temple. First there was blinding pain, next I was laying on the ground, opening my eyes it took me a minute to figure out where I was, my head was still pounding from the pain and my vision was spinning. Once my vision was in focus I saw a body laying sprawled on the grass in front of me. Realizing that it was Cedric, I finally realized where Death had sent me. He sent me back to the end of my fourth year, it was the final task for the Tri-Wizard Tournament and we were in the graveyard where Voldemort was resurrected. Making a split second decision I decided this time around I would work with Voldemort, my brain was rapidly relaying memories and knowledge about Dumbledore I hadn't known before. I realized my decision to side with Voldemort was the right one if all the stuff I now knew was anything to go by. Feeling the familiar hum of magic I got in my scar when ever Voldemort did magic near me, I figured that the Horcrux was back.
