I know this is meant to be a lighthearted book and stuff, but I just need to vent a bit. So today my band director called the entire band out of 7th period. He proceeded to tell us he'll be leaving our school after this year for another school in our county. He had been declining their offer for about two months, and only accepted last night. I am only a freshman, so I can only imagine what the upperclassmen are going through, but I had thought I'd be going through all of high school with him and now after having him as a band director for almost a year, I can barely imagine having anyone else lead our band. I guess I'm also scared I'm going to forget the details of how the band runs with him in charge, and that when the new band director comes they won't respect our traditions. However, we do get a say in who it is when it comes time for the hiring process. I don't know, I'm just sad.
Update: We met the new band director a few weeks ago, and I don't really have a solid opinion of him yet, but I do think he's changing a lot of things that don't really need to be changed, like what we call at low/standby, and a bunch of other stuff. He did march Carolina Crown on trumpet though, so that's kinda cool I guess.
