Miles got to his first period on time for once. He had only been at Visions for a little over a month and it was taking some time getting used to his new life. It was a completely different experience than Brooklyn Middle which he secretly missed at some points. Once he got used to the fast pace of his classes at Visions he was able to catch up with everyone. Miles was a smart kid, extremely smart, so dealing with a prestige school came easy.

One of the best parts at being at Visions was his roommate Olivia Victors. At first his roommate was Ganke Lee who is now one of his best friends but then the school messed up the roommate assignments and he got placed with someone else. The only available spot for Olivia was the one with Miles despite the strict rule of no boys and girls in the same dorm. With an extreme talking to both them and their parents they let them room together.

They were still kinda strangers but eventually she'd become close to him like Ganke and Gwen were the more he saw her. Today was his sixteenth birthday and he woke up to a red velvet cupcake sitting on their desk with a gift next to it. Olivia always left earlier to go get her something to eat before school and this time she snuck into the cafeteria to grab the cupcake her favorite lunch lady made for her. Mile was sound asleep when she set it on the desk along with the present, slipping out of the room still unnoticed.

He sat in first period now with the cupcake half eaten while writing down the bell work before the teacher walked in. The sounds of students talking outside and lockers slamming was the typical school noise. Ganke sat down in front of him and they did their signature handshake which is what they did when they saw each other. Gwen sat in the row next to them a few seats up and rolled her eyes.

"Where'd you get the cupcake from? And why don't I have one?" Ganke asked with a pout.

"It's not your birthday that's why." Gwen said.

Ganke looked at her. "It doesn't have to be your birthday to get a cupcake."

"Olivia got it for me." Miles bundled up the paper towel he had the cupcake on and a friend of his walked by and threw it away for him. "I woke up to that and a gift."

"A gift?" Gwen wiggled her eyebrows. "What kind of gift?"

"A few new video games and a hoodie I've been looking at for awhile now."

"Aw she pays attention how sweet." Ganke started making kissing noises.

Miles kicked his leg from underneath the desk right when the teacher walked in. He went through first and second period until third came up which was the first class of the day he had with Olivia. She sat behind him in this class so when he sat his books down on his desk they immediately made eye contact.

"Morales! My birthday boy!"

He blushed. "Thank you for the gifts Liv you didn't have to."

She leaned forward in her chair. "But I did anyway. Happy Birthday Miles."

Her friend tapped her shoulder so she turned around and Miles faced the front blushing brighter than ever. Olivia has always been one of the sweetest people at Visions despite some of her friends who seem to have constant attitudes. She was one the few dozen who didn't act like a bratty rich kid that flaunted their wealth or GPA. When she was first assigned as his roommate she was extremely shy and barely talked. They kinda knew each other through Gwen so they weren't complete strangers sharing a room together. Slowly but surely they were becoming close to one another.

"Hey birthday boy!" His friend Isaac sat across from him and nodded at him.

"Sup Isaac. You feeling better now?"
