There was a little girl that had the perfect family, she grew up in a perfectly cute little home, had a mother and father that loved her very much. She was a gifted little girl who could play the violin and was always smiling. Her face wore a mask of laughter and complete and enlightened joy.

Then her mother and father went away, to join the Military Police and The Scouting Legion. Her perfect life fell apart when both of her parents died on the same mission, leaving her to live with her grandparents, near wall Maria. They both had been eaten by a titan, when trying to save one another. For once the little girl stopped laughing and smiling. Her heart that was full of happiness and laughed, became black with revenge. She wanted to destroy those creatures that killed her family.

(Journal Entry)

Seven Years Later:

My mother and father died in the clutches of a damned titan. I was here at training to seek revenge for them. This wasn't your typical thing that most girls went through. Then again...I wasn't your average 12 year old girl.

There all of the new recruits stood in line, with our backs straight and eyes forward. We listened to our commanding officer yell and degrade us. Calling us maggots and worthless pieces of titan food.

"I have 100 or so of the worst excuse for cadets that I have ever had!" The man yelled.

I looked from side-to-side as I observed the other cadets, in the line beside me. What was wrong with us? What the hell does he expect for a bunch of 12-13 or so year olds? It wasn't like we were born with a sword in our hands, and a know-how to kill titans.

The officer in charge spoke again, spinning on the heels of booted feet. He wore a scary ass looking grin on his face, causing all of the cadets to take a gulp. I swore some even wet themselves.

"Half of you won't even make through the first week of training, those who do will be picked off one-by-one during the hard trials. If you fail, you will be sent to the fields."

I heard a male next to me snicker, at the way the commander's nostrils flared when he was angry. The drill instructor must have amazing hearing, because he was on the boy little there was no tomorrow.

"You think it's funny you shit face poor excuse for a cadet!" The officer screamed, causing me to flinch inwardly, I knew better then to do it outwardly.

"N-No, sir," the laughing cadet stuttered out.

"Well, your little outburst has cause you to go a day without rations and you get to run all night until you faint from exhaustion," the drill officer grunted.

I took a deep breath and sighed through my teeth, causing a whistling sound to come out.

He then turned toward me. "What are you whistling at cadet?"

"Nothing sir and it's Cadet Norman, sir!" I shouted back in a loud voice, making the drill instructor to arch a brown and crack another scary smile.

"Well if it is nothing, state your purpose for joining out ranks, Cadet Norman," he demanded.

"To destroy the very things that killed my parents, to drive those titans back to the gates of hell. To save others from having the fate that I suffered, losing my parents sir!" I responded in a loud voice.

"Is that so? Then you have earned yourself the same treatment as Cadet Shits-and-Giggles," he growled, his wrinkled jowls, flapping and giving him a look of an angry bull dog.
