Plastic bottle drifting on the ocean waves
Empty beer cans scatter the sandy beach
Fishing line in wadded up clusters tangling coral reefs
Wrappers of chips, gum, and other things dance aggressively with the wind
Sharp broken bottles make the water a hazard
The metallic rainbow shine of the slick oil spills glimmer in the large pool
Rusted metal objects lying on the bottom of the deep blue
Lifeless fish float up to the glassy surface
A horrid stench accompanied by a murky haze travels off the water's edge
Turtles getting stuck in the plastic carrier of the soda cans
Tumbleweeds filled with more garbage than weed scurry down the sandy shoreline
It's quiet here, there are no birds chirping, they have all left for a better life someplace else
Plastic bags brush past my ankles as I enter the water
Little minnows getting caught in the man's plastic hand
Plastic cups being eaten by sea life
Dolphins getting caught up in the mess of fishermen's quake
Cigarette butts floating amongst the seaweed
Animals getting hurt from long sharp hooks
From bright vibrant coral reefs to dull gray dead ones
We've changed from a sea full of fish to a sea full of plastic
So what will you do?
Will you stand by and watch?
Or will you make a difference?
