Sam's POV
Dean and I got up the next morning and packed their picnic. "Do you really think we're doing the right thing here?" I asked.
"The kids are in love," Dean replied. "We practically let her in, and she's been proving herself to us."
"Yeah, but her and Jack?"
"What are you trying to say, Sam?"
"I don't know. I just can't put my finger on it."
"You like her," Dean closed the basket we were putting food in. "Admit it, Sam. You like Mariana."
"What?" I brushed off. "No."
"Yeah, you do," Dean smiled. "Oh man. I'm going to have a field trip with this."
"No, Dean," I stopped him. "You cannot tell Jack about this."
"You are crushing on a girl who's like eighteen years younger than you."
"So what?" I looked at him. "You lie about your age to girls all the time."
"Sammy," Dean stated. "Jack loves this girl and this girl obviously loves Jack." I nodded. "All you have to do is say the word and we don't have to help out Jack."
"But we have to help Jack," I replied. "We gave him our word."
"Hey guys," Mariana walked in. She lifted herself onto the counter and sat there. "What are you guys up to?"
"Aren't you supposed to be at work?" I asked.
"I have Saturdays off," Mariana nodded.
"We didn't hear you come in," Dean pointed.
"You guys said I was welcomed over any time," Mariana shrugged. "Besides, Sam said he was going to help me memorize the lore books in the study." She looked at me. "Said that it'll help to know which book is which, if you guys ever need help on a case when you're not here."
"That's what the internet is for," Dean raised a brow.
"Some of the lore isn't on the internet," I added. "I thought showing Mariana would help us out when we're on hunts."
"Relax, it's not like he's teaching me to shoot a gun," Mariana stated. Dean looked at her. "I don't think he's that stupid to give me a firearm. Besides, I already know how to shoot one."
"Really?" Dean asked.
"My ex, he was an officer," Mariana shrugged. "Dad only liked him because they knew the family pretty well."
"Except?" I asked.
"Except that the guy was a total douche with a huge ego," Mariana replied. "I had to let him go." I nodded. "Anyways, what's the picnic basket for?"
"Jack asked us to help plan your date today," Dean replied. "Said you guys were going to a park so we decided you guys should have a picnic there."
"Let's get you to the study," I nodded. Mariana jumped off the counter and went to the study. I looked at Dean. "Stop it." I went to the study and saw Mariana looking at the books. "Looks like you go to it before me."
"Yeah," Mariana nodded. "I've always been a nerd for books. I always loved mythology and most things supernatural, but I didn't realize it was all real till I met you guys and read most of the books you have." I smiled as Mariana looked at me. "It's interesting."
"Do you really like hunting?" I asked.
"Yeah," Mariana replied. "I think it's the only thing I think that will actually interest me." I sat down as she browsed the books. "It's a lot more interesting than being at that diner my whole life."
