i quietly closed the door and ran back outside to my car and drove back to my house. I ran upstairs and crawled into bed.
I checked my phone before I turned it off. I had a text from the same number that I didn't read earlier. I decided to see what it said.
'did you not get my text? i seriously need to talk to you.'
i texted back. 'I think you have the wrong number. this is Claire Evans. who are you looking for? I may be able to help you.'
they texted back immediately. 'oh, I'm sorry. I must have the wrong number. I'm looking for Cassidy Peyton. do you have her number? this is Thomas White.'
I dropped my phone. 'I'm the girl that asked you for a table today at the country club. I'm sorry, I don't have her number.'
it took a few minutes for him to get back to me. 'it's okay! she must've changed it to stop me from texting her. and hey, I'll be there tomorrow. I work there, also. maybe we could grab lunch on me at the pool?'
did THE Thomas White just ask me on a lunch date AT WORK?! 'sure, my shift ends at 3 so I'll see you at the pool house?'
'see you at the pool house!'
i was seriously contemplating what i just got myself into. he could be lying and could be that weird new kid that works in the office that keeps staring at me every day when i go in to clock in and out. i seriously could have just gotten myself into something that i may not be able to get myself out of.
i finally calmed down and came to the conclusion of, whoever it is, i clearly have seen them before or else they don't live here. i know everyone in this town because it's THAT small. i guess i'll just have to wait and see who shows up tomorrow afternoon at 3.
