It was just like any day. A normal day. I went to work. There had been some reports of a new disease taking the rounds but we never imagined it would be because they were trying to cure something as little as an STD. The STD had unfortunately grown and learned with the Quote on quote antidote. Fever, runny nose, welts forming and oozing and then 48 hours later you're gone. I paid no mind like the rest of the world. I strapped my gun to my hip grabbed my keys and left my house like I do everyday. Except it wasn't a normal day anymore. The world was about to change. And with it so would all of mankind.

I went to work like it was any other day as many of us did. Little to our knowledge it wasn't going to last for that long.

My husband was leaving for California for a business trip and I was only working a half day. Had I known how the day was going to go I wouldn't have let him leave at all.

Why do you have a gun you ask? 1. conceal carry. Its my right and it makes me feel safe considering where I live. 2. I usually go to the range when my husband is out of town. I know its silly but he agrees I need to learn. Little does he know I get the extra practice and I'm damn good. The owner of the range is a nice women. She taught me how to handle many different fire arms. I'm quite skilled with a simple hand gun. My favorite though is a rifle.

I pull up to the range and turn off the car right in the middle of a news broadcast saying the CDC was cracking down on something. I assumed it was nothing. I guess I should've listened more closely.  I get to the entrance and the sign says closed. This never happens. I only then realize that there's no cars in the lot at all. Not even Veronica who practically lives there. Then I notice that half the cars that are usually on this side of towns parking garage were missing.

I drove by several businesses that all had closed signs. At 10am. I turned around and went back to the house. I turned on the news as background noise. Im not a fan of news or basic cable TV. Im a netflix watcher.

I walked back and forth from each room. Feeling uneasy and oddly like something was about to happen. I tried to shake it off. Its just a feeling after all. I walked back into the living room where the news was flashing some warning. "Do NOT go outside: We warn you. IT IS SPREADING LIKE CRAZY. We suggest staying in doors, locking your door, do not answer for anyone." What? What is going on?

I changed the channel and the same thing. "DO NOT GO OUTSIDE." What? Maybe I should actually listen to something these people are saying. The next channel. Same thing. Its all over the place. People changing acting different. The disease is spreading. STAY INSIDE. I grabbed my guns from the closet and a few knives and put them in my car with my ammo.If shits going down Im getting prepared. I texted my husband. I hope hes okay. I grabbed My work clothes. Put my knee high boots on.  Leg protection. A back pack. Some water. And went to my car. Everyone is going nuts. I mean nuts. My neighbors Are panicking. I hear screams in the distance. "JACK." I screamed. I almost forgot my god damn dog oh my lord. He came barreling out of the house and jumped into the car. I grabbed food. Cans of it. Im getting my shit locked down.  I strapped jack down in his harness and looked him in his eyes. "Whatever happens boy I need you."

I started the car and then turned the radio to any station I could get service. "The CDC Says if you have to leave Come to town hall or the stadium. I repeat The town hall or The stadium." Bad idea. We would be hoarded there. Driving around made everything more real and much worse. Jack was starting to forget. I knew he felt it too. We had to go somewhere. The cabin. My brother and his wife have a cabin they are there for the week. "Come on Jack we're going to uncle johns house." Screeching tires I turned around and headed the opposite way. I wasn't about to be trapped here.

People were panicking cars were crashing into each other and I was starting to have my doubts. Just as I was about to turn another car slammed into my front fender sending jack and I spinning. I looked up and as they flew bye they had blood oozing all over there face. Okay bye foot we go. I grabbed jacks leash and my camping pack full of food a sleeping bag and first aid and my guns and ammo and ran for the woods. All I could hear was screaming and as I didn't look back moaning and gun fire.
