New version of Chapter Three: There’s A Glitch in His Balls or Something

Our walk back to the pack house was spent in silence. I was surprised when he held my hand in his. His thumb trailing circles on the back of my hand. I blushed, thinking that maybe I made him happy, that I was enough to satisfy him.

“So…” he started, glancing around nervously as if not wanting to meet my eyes. A brick plummeted down to my stomach. I felt uneasy because I know that whatever he’s going to say is bad and I wouldn’t like it. “Please just do–”

I cut him off, while yanking my hand back from his. “Yeah, I know. I won’t mention it to anyone.” I let my hope get up only to be crushed and stomped on, like a cigarette. I was disgusted with myself. Wow, I am turning into a slut and fast. I laugh sardonically and shook my head at him.

He seemed oblivious to what I am really feeling. He just quietly thanked me and continued on his way back home. I let him walk ahead of me, so that he won’t be able to see the tears that were quietly falling down on my face. The saltiness of my tears made my scratches stung a little; I wiped them off with the hem of my t-shirt.

“Oh, baby! Where have you been?” Ava whined as soon as she saw her beloved boyfriend and my mate. Emphasis on ‘my’. She ran up to him to shower him with kisses on his face.

I think my heart cracked a little when he wrapped an arm around her and closed his eyes as he was attacked by her sloppy little mouth. Despite all this, I think he’s really happy. He was smiling fondly at her, like she was the light to his life’s darkness. Whatever, that’s so cliché. And there I was, standing on his door awkwardly.

“Out for a walk,” he replied curtly. He stole a glance at me from the corner of his eye. For a moment I thought that he looked apologetic, but when I blink it was gone. That’s me and my ever-hopeful self.

I sighed loudly just to annoy Ava. She whipped her head at me in a flash, shooting me a hateful glare. “What are you looking at?”

“Hmm let’s see…” I tapped my chin as if thinking really hard as I look over at her. “I see a dumb blonde. Oh, wait! That was redundant.” I smiled sweetly at her.

She turned her head to her fucking boyfriend, “Are you just going to let her talk to me like that?”

He shrugged indifferently, as if he could care less. “Well, you’re not my mate or anything.” he laughed. “You’re not even my girlfriend.”

“WHAT?” she slapped him in the chest repeatedly. “What the hell are you talking about? You asked me to be your girlfriend last night! And if I remember correctly, I said yes!” she shrieked.

Oh my, God! Is there a fire or something? If she continues to be like this every single day, my ears are going to fall off!

He cupped her cheeks, making her look at him. “I was just kidding. Don’t get worked up.” He laughed silently, but happily, nonetheless.

My eyes watered. He may have said that she wasn’t his mate–it is true, though–but the way he was acting towards her was the way a male should treat his female. And it’s breaking my heart seeing them that way. That should be me.
