One day, Chase was up early as usual when he was told by Ryder to wake the pups up for breakfast. He stretched his body on the grass and proceeded to walk by some of the pup houses, deciding which of the pups should get the megaphone first. Instead, he saw Marshall getting out of his.

"You're up early, Marshall.", snickered Chase, walking towards his buddy.

"Kinda.", the Dalmatian yawned. "I'm starving, are we getting breakfast any time soon?"

"Yeah, Ryder is filling up our bowls inside." He replied. "By the way, did you hear anything last night?"

"What you mean?"

"I swear I heard something like wrestling, like two animals fighting last night. It kept me up for two hours." The Shepherd mentioned, wandering around the yard, like looking for anything around that could have produced that noise.

"Like squirrels? Or a raccoon?", guessed Marshall.

"Squirrels and raccoons?", laughed Chase, gaining one from his friend too. "I'll see if Zuma is coming for breakfast. He's an early surfer. Could you please wake the pups? Ryder will be calling us in soon."

"Roger.", replied the fire pup, as Chase watched him while dashing off to the bay, where he found the water pup riding a wave in the distance. After calling him, both walked back to the Lookout.

"I heard it too. Sounded like a fight of raccoons or something.", mentioned Zuma as they were taking a turn in the pup houses.

"More likely.", the Shepherd shrugged, as he stopped in front of the red pup house. "That's weird, Marshall never leaves his pup house closed."

Both took a better look, as they stood in front. "You think he's hiding something?"

"Oh please, what could he possibly be-?"

In that moment the pup house's gate opened in the blink of an eye making its usual metallic sound, making both pups to jump back and hide behind the pup house, muffling a scream of surprise. Like staring at an alien coming out of a UFO, both crawled closer as a figure blocked the sun while two paws touched the outside. With half of the body out, Chase stood to take a closer look.

Both pups froze as the Husky pup noticed them. Said pup being one of their teammates, it was quite the surprise. This created an awkward silence for a while.

"...hi.", Everest saluted.

"...hi.", they responded.

Silence again.

"Were you in there, like... the whole night?", Zuma asked, a blush appearing in both males.

She turned to the house and back to them. "No."

"Then what were you doing in Marshall's room?", Chase asked.

"Nothing.", she was quick to answer. "Anyway it's getting, uh, late, gottagobye!"

As the pup blabbered in one breath the last part, she bolted out in direction to the bridge, where they noticed her snowplow parked. The engine roared and she was gone. The pups were left with puzzled looks and opened jaws.

"Do you think they were...?", started Chase. Both had figured out what all the commotion was about, all those noises...

"Wanna tease him about it?", replied the lab.

"Oh, yeah."

It was an awkward breakfast.
