Chapter Three: The Motive

I didn't bother to stop at the store to pick up something to eat, I figured my mom would have fixed me something before going off to work. To my luck as I put the key into the door, all the lights were off and I stumbled on the vase that set awkwardly in the middle of the hall. I took off my shoes and spoke low "I'm home." Like I was saying it to someone in specific but I was the only one home, minus an animal; Kauto my dog. I had him since I was a child. He happily jumped up on me and licked my face as I flicked on the kitchen light, I commanded him down and he barked wagging his tail, I rubbed his head and rambled through the kitchen fridge hoping I could find something. That's when my green eyes fixed on the plate with a note that read "Eat up" I said happily "Thank you Mom!" and I quickly picked up the plate and squealed, sometimes I was happy to be an only child. I couldn't tell you why Akira targeted me for an attack I mean I was still dumbfounded by the past event me and him shared that left me with a bitter anger and confused feeling in the pit of my gut towards him, the truth was that I really wanted to ask him what happen that night. Why me? Why then? I didn't feel like he was targeting me with a motive, because if he was why did he let me go? He could have easily killed me

Flash back...

"Just let her go." a voice said as it appeared behind Akira's kneeling body "...Yes, Master." Akira stood and faced the figure and bowed, the voice was eerie and inhuman like as it went on to speak "We will turn her in due time, but first let's feed that human body to the babies." the figure whistled and a bunch of young children with pale skin and scarlet eyes crawled towards the garbage can and removed the dead female body and started to devour the remains, bones and all, their teeth pulled over every bit of flesh that was offered and sucked hungrily on the blood that oozed out . Akira smirked and spoke low "Why, do we need her Master?" the figure now turned his full attention back to Akira and smiled, his sharp teeth showing "Because, if turned by force she would make a powerful Ghoul." He snarled "..And if we have her working for our Lord, we will be able to take over this district." Akira grunted in disbelief " What makes that human girl so special?" the figure now looked serious and his face was stern as he mentioned in a serious tone "Her blood."

Back to the present....

"I finished the rest of the food my mother had left me and sighed in relief, it was a beef curry with shrimps on the side. I would make sure I thanked her in the morning knowing I would be sleep when she got off work. I got up to put the bowl in the sink and to wash the only dish left so she wouldn't have to. As I put my fork on the rack, I heard a knock on the door, my head shot up in shock "Back so soon?" I thought as I rushed to the door, I didn't expect my mother to be back this soon, it was only six o ' clock that is and she usually got off at twelve , I raised my eye to the hole and almost gasped my last breath at the sight on the other end. "Akira?" I stepped back and ran to the kitchen to cut off the light, I really didn't want him knowing I was home. That's when Kauto got up and barked I "shhhh..." for him to be quiet hoping Akira didn't hear him, but to my horror it was too late, Akira slid something in between the door and it opened,"The hell!" I thought as a shiver ran down my spine. In horror I ran upstairs as quickly as I could, Kauto fast behind me as I slammed my door closed and backed up so I could slide my bed over towards it, hoping it would keep him out, or long enough so I could figure out a plan, Before I could let out a breath of relief to think, I heard a yelp..."Kauto?" I whispered and slowly turned around, my face going pale at the sight. Kauto had his neck snapped in half, it rested in the hands of a tall male big and masculine. He tossed Kauto's limp body like it was trash and grinned, I screamed and in that moment Akira kicked open the door sending my bed flying across the room, I lowered my head as I shivered and screamed "What do you want from me?!" Akira let out a small laugh and spoke "Everything." As he said this and my focus was on him, the male behind me approached me and gave me a chop just in the base of my neck, I felt heavy as my eyes quickly closed, I fought the best I could to stay awake as the tall male lifted me, the only thing I could hear was Akira's words "I finally caught you rare blood." "Rare?...blood?" I thought, before I could speak a word a heavy sleep crept over me..
