EREN'S POV

Levi's my best friend, ever since we were children! Everywhere he goes I go, everywhere I go he goes.

We lived in a beautiful, quiet neighborhood. Both of my parents were wealthy, we had a big house, and I had all the toys a child could dream of.

Growing up, Levi and I went to the same school together. Although we didn't have the same classes together, we still always sat with each other during lunch. We'd play in each other's backyards and had sleepovers every weekend. I was happy about that since my parents were great friends with his parents.

Every time we played a game, Levi always won, but I didn't care. Watching him smile and laugh lit a small fire inside me. Not a destructive one, but a warm, comforting one.

Everything was perfect. So perfect. Too perfect.

I remember it all so well like a nightmare chasing after me. Haunting me forever. I can never get what I saw that night out of my head. I was eight when it all happened.

My father came home one night acting so strange. He told my mother and I that he would be going out for a meeting and would be back in time for dinner by seven. I looked at the time. It was nearly twelve, almost midnight.

I ran up to him for a hug, about to ask him why he had come home so late. But as I approached him, I was able to make out any new details that I had never seen before. His face was a bright red. His hair covered with a strange green sticky substance. Vomit? His eyes looked like they were almost to the point of insanity. His eyebrows narrowed. His clothes were covered in mud from shoulder to toe. He looked at me like he was about to pounce on me and rip my insides out.

Who is this? Is this my father? I don't know who I am looking at anymore.

I heard my mother's voice as she walked from behind me, "Hey, darling. You're home la-"

She paused when she saw something gleaming in my father's hand. I followed her gaze and saw... a glass bottle? What was my father doing with that?

I was about to open my mouth when my mother hurried me to my room telling me to go to bed. She left the room in a hurry and locked the door. She didn't even tuck me to bed.

I'd never think that the next few hours would haunt me forever. I laid in my bed underneath my covers shaking in fear as I listened to my mother and father screaming at each other at the top of their lungs. A few times I heard loud crashes and bangs. My heart jumped in fear every time I heard them. I shook in intense fear covered in sweat. I heard my mother scream a few times. I felt paralyzed, I couldn't get myself to move.

Being in a wealthy family I got my own cell phone at an early age. I never used it much since I was never interested. My parents figured that if I had a phone, I could call anyone if there was ever an emergency.

I reached for it, but my hand froze.

Why can't I move? Come on, the phone is right there! Pick it up! Pick it up, damnit!

My hand fell limp beside me and I broke down sobbing. Why can't I just pick up the phone? Why can't I do it?

Suddenly I heard a loud crash and a blood curdling scream.

"Get back here you fucking bastard!" My dad's voice screaming at my mom.

I ran out of my room and looked down at the balcony below. The place was a mess. Glass shattered all about and furniture tipped over, but they were nowhere in sight.
