I am still wearing what I went to bed in last night. I look around the room I was in and it looked a lot like a dorm. I sit up and realize I'm sleeping on a mattress on the floor. I shudder thinking of all the possibilities that could've happened. But the one that truly terrifies me, is that I've been kidnapped.
There's a thin sheet laying on top of me that in one motion, I pull off of me. As soon as I did that the room got so much colder. Thinking the sheet's as good I'm going to get, I cover myself once more. I lay back down and stay in this position for a while, thinking of how and why I am, well, wherever I am.
My thoughts are interrupted when I hear movement coming from the kitchen portion of the dorm. I freeze, afraid of what might emerge from around the corner. A few minutes go by and I don't hear any other noises. I let out a breath I didn't realize I was holding in and closed my eyes and tried to get some more sleep.
I could feel myself drifting away when I heard the sound of a microwave. I opened my eyes confused. Um, a microwave? I take the sheets off again and climb of the mattress. The floor is carpeted, just like my dorm. I look around the room and notice the two bunks on either side. There are posters covering every wall with boy bands and school events. Sounds from the kitchen continue.
I slowly make my way across the room and take a breathe before revealing myself from behind the bunk. I gasp at the boy standing in front of me.
"Spencer?!" I yell in disbelief.
"Good, you're awake." He says gruffly, without turning around. I open my mouth to say something but no words come out. "You should thank me." I shut my mouth and glared at him.
"Thank you?! Why?! You broke into my dorm, kidnapped me, and took me to your dorm! I should not be thanking you!" He dropped the pot he was holding and turned around.
His eye was swollen shut and he had a huge bruise on his left cheek. He took long strides towards me which made me backup to the wall. My back hit the wall and he placed both of his hands on the wall on either side of my face. I studied his bruise and his eye, wondering how in the world he could've gotten them. When we were in the car yesterday, he didn't have them. My stare moved to his open eye and he stared into mine.
"The kidnappers were coming. They were going into your building and up to your level." He dropped his gaze but never moved his hands. "They had you." he barely said. "So I went and risked my life for you!" He said starting to raise his voice. His eyes moved back up to mine. "You would've been kidnapped if I hadn't saw the kidnappers coming! You would've been gone! But I saved your damn life so that is why you should thank me!" He stood there, staring intently into my eyes and I stood there staring back.
Did he really save me from being kidnapped? I looked away and took in everything I just heard.
"Why did you come and save me? You could've just stayed in here. You didn't need to risk your life for me." I said looking back into his eyes. He looked down and removed his hands from the wall. He turned his back to me but didn't move away.
"Because if something happened to you, I would never be able to forgive myself." He confessed and walked back to the kitchen. I stood there in shock. I've never seen someone care if I lived or died before. Maybe my mother but she's my mom, she's supposed to.
"Oh." I said. "Can I, um, go back to my dorm?" I quietly asked.
"Be careful." He said but didn't turn around. I headed for the door and my hand landed on the door knob but I didn't turn it.
"Thank you." I said loud enough so he could hear me from the kitchen. All the noises I heard before stopped but there was no response, so I left.

I walked across the bridge connecting the girl's dorm building to the boys in complete silence.
I reached my dorm and swung open the door, not prepared for Abigail to be sitting on my bed crying. When she saw me, she jumped up and ran towards me. She wrapped her arms around me and sobbed. "I thought I lost you too." She said in between sobs. I held her tighter.
"You almost did." I told her.
