The pair sat on the creaky swings. After a moment of awkward silence, they began to strike up a conversation. The conversation wasn't the most interesting, but it was something. But halfway through their conversation, Edd's face started going numb due to the cold.

Matt suggested they go to a nearby cafe for something hot to drink. Edd agreed and off they went. The ding from the bell above the door greeted the boys as they waltzed in from the freezing outdoors. The barista welcomed them with a warm smile and asked what they wanted to order.

Matt, being the generous boy he is, offered to pay for their drinks. Edd declined at first, but Matt kept pushing Edd to let him pay. After a bit of convincing and unintentional flirting, Edd broke and finally let Matt pay. They both decided to sit at a booth near the window.

The chit chat continued until their coffees had been finished. During a small period of silence, the bell above the door sounded. Edd glanced back at the glass door and his eyes met with a familiar face. It was Tom. Edd stood up and waved Tom down with a huge goofy grin on his face.

Tom smirked and started walking toward Edd with Tord following him from behind. The two fist bumped and Tord went to give Matt a hug.

With new coffees in hand, the pairs sat opposite each other in the booth and talked.

"So, what are you guys doing out here?" Tom said as he took a swig from his cup.
"We were hanging out and it got too cold. We decided to just drink coffee until 6" Edd replied.
"Were you two on a date?" Tord whispered mockingly.

Both Edd and Matt's faces immediately turned red as they spewed incoherent sentences while stuttering. Tom and Tord shared a smug look as they watched the madness unravel. Edd took a giant gulp from his hot coffee to shut himself up. Matt put his head in his hands and mumbled unintelligible short sentences.

Tord got a good laugh from his little tease, but Edd and Matt obviously didn't enjoy it.

Was it a date? No, no. We were just hanging out!

Just that. Nothing more..

6:43 PM

Empty cups, no more talking material? Yup, seems like the perfect combination for goodbyes. Edd and Matt walked down the empty streets covered in thick snow. Edd shivered as snowflakes hit the back of his neck.

Suddenly, a wave of warmth came over him. Matt had put his coat on Edd's shoulders. He looked at Matt with a puzzled expression, which Matt returned with a smile. They continued walking until they reached Edd's place and said goodbye to each other.

Edd yawned as he went to take off his clothes. Sudden realization hit him when he took off the coat. Matt's coat. "Goddammit!" Edd yelled whilst holding the coat in front of him. Either way, he went to change into his pyjamas.

When he was done with that, he threw the coat onto his study chair and hopped on the bed to text Matt.

Edd- Hey, man. I accidentally brought your coat with me. Should I give it to ya today?
Matt- Nooo! I don't want you to get sick
Edd- I mean I'm already sick soo
Matt- Edd, c'mon man. I don't wanna have to be alone on monday just because you got a horrible cold from returning my fucking coat
Matt- I care about you. And I don't want a stupid cold separating us!
Edd- Pfft, dramatic much?
Matt- Ah shit, I went too far again. Sorry for sounding possessive or whatever
Edd- Nah, it's all cool. Soo, see you on monday, I guess
Matt- Yeah man, see you then.

Edd's arms went limp and slammed onto his bed. He shut his curtains so no one would be disrupted by the light in his room. He watched videos on his phone for a bit before losing interest.

A message came in the moment he shut his eyes.

Tom- Ey! Sorry for crashing your hangout session
Edd- No, you didn't. Don't worry bout it
Tom- No man, seriously. Thanks for putting up with mine and Tord's bullshit.
Edd- Haha, I've been doing that since primary
Tom- Fuq u m8
Edd- Why thank you for the kind words, young sir
Tom- r/comedycemetery
Edd- Oof, harsh move.
Tom- Heh, whatever.
Edd- Well, see ya later
Tom- Right back at 'cha

Once again, Edd laid still on his bed with nothing to do. But then, he remembered a piece of art he wanted to finish. A sunset in front of a cliff with a couple sitting near the edge. Generic, yes. Even so, he just decided it would look great in his shit hole of a room.

The whole time he was painting, he was listening to songs on his phone. One particular song Edd remembered the lyrics to was One Of The Drunks by Panic! At The Disco.

Orange juice
Pour out half the carton
Grey goose
Pour it get it started
Good times
Remedy your sorrows
Baptize
don't worry 'bout tomorrow...

It's one of his favorite songs, after all. Edd moved his head to the beat, sometimes making his brush drum sticks. It was fun. A feeling was nagging him though. Ah, that's right. Hunger. He hadn't eaten dinner. Edd groaned and dragged himself downstairs. 'Huh, looks like mom went out' He thought as he saw the empty living room.

A sandwich was the only option. Well, there were other food items, but he barely knew how to cook. Ham and cheese sandwich it is, then.

00: 25 AM

Edd climbed onto his bed and curled up into a ball. He was exhausted, like one would be if they were up painting for six ours straight. Edd looked at his wall and just stared. His eyes fluttered shut as he drifted of to sleep.
