My life wasn’t a roller coaster with a series of loops twists and turns that made me the being I am now but instead a book that started before I was even born and plunged me into a world I’d never even thought of. The events that started this chaotic story hit me like a bullet…literally.

Nothing can make this moment more perfect, I thought to myself as I twiddled Alec’s silky brown hair around my thumb and forefinger. Its soft texture was beyond compare, it was better than most girl’s hair; for that I envied him. His head laying just below my stomach dragging my large t-shirt and hoodie down revealing part of my collarbone, his body was cocooned between my legs like a child. Our friends moving, bouncing and shouting around us as we sat in a derelict and abandoned car park just off the town centre. We all came down to be free, to escape the reality that we all hated: life. The ages of our mixed group ranged from 12 to 19 and none of us could care less.

Alec stirred slightly as I shifted over to make room for Mia who decided she wanted a hug. She wrapped her arms around my shoulders, her thin dress (more of a t-shirt) barely protected her from the cold air. “People probably think this is a weird love triangle,” I jested, Mia just gave a look and hushed me by placing one ice cold finger on my lips. Her multi-coloured-dyed hair standing out against the deep natural chocolate of my own. “Ugh why am I always alone, yet you have Mr. Perfect there?” she complained, still hugging me. I laughed slightly, “Maybe because you’ll give yourself to anyone who gives you food?” She dug her fake luminous nails into my thigh and pulled away. She raised her eyebrow and pointed to her dress, the words “Rude” decorated her chest in bold. “I am only joking, you just need to find the right guy, okay? Now go before he wakes up!” She smiled slightly then wandered off. I had no care for her complaints about her failed love life, I mean she was only 13. Alec slowly propped himself up onto his elbow, his piercing blue eyes locked in a gaze with my own. “Was I asleep?” He asked with a deep, sleepy voice. I nodded; gently pulling back the strands of his fringe that had fallen over his face. He looked dazed with one eyes still drooping as he made a groaning noise when he sat fully upright facing me, “Are your legs always open or are you just happy to see me?” he asked, yawning away. ”I would punch you but you’re too cute when you’re sleepy,” I pressed my lips to his, my insides turned to mush as his lips moved in sync with mine. We’d accomplished a perfect harmony with kissing now. We pulled apart, my lips felt warm and damp. He pressed his forehead to mine, holding my face with one quivering hand. I pressed my cheek against his palm, holding it in place with my own hand. I heard a small chorus of “awh” behind me. Alec smiled, his perfectly white teeth gleaming. I closed my eyes, relishing the moment. Alec pulled away from me. Shouts erupted from all around. Screams rang out. I opened my eyes, standing up as quickly as I could. People ran away. I couldn’t see Alec anywhere. Hands abruptly yanked me backwards. I tried to pull away my efforts were dismissed after I heard a barrel click near my head. I froze. Gunshots were fired above me, my attacker held me close with his gun resting against my temple. I whimpered slightly, my knees starting to give way from underneath me. “Everyone stop moving or I’ll blast this little doll’s brains out!” The gunman shouted. People froze, looking back at me. Alec ran near to where I stood.

“Let her go,” He demanded, holding his arm out to me. The gun man scoffed and shot my foot. I howled in pain, tears streaming my face. The man’s hand clapped over my mouth, silencing me as he returned the gun to my head giving it a jolt as he did.

“If you move without me telling you to again or make any demands like that again, I’ll splatter her brains across the pavement, got it?” Alec nodded in reply. Blood was pouring from my foot, the stench stung my nose as it mixed with the air. The man inhaled deeply, “That smell is divine, the sweet scent of fear and blood, oh the smell,” He licked my neck slowly, exhaling deeply afterwards. Everyone’s eyes widened for a moment, screams filled the car park as a sharp pain emanated from my throat. My attacker’s mouth was enclosed around my jugular, rivulets of blood stained my grey cotton hoodie and the asphalt below. I couldn’t move. My limbs went numb, I knew I didn’t have long. Alec ran towards me, shouting. Two men appeared besides my attacker, forcing Alec to run. “I always enjoy the chase,” one of them laughed as they both sprinted with phenomenal speed after the group that had fled. Tears caressed my face as they dripped onto the floor. The mouth released its grasp over my neck, “What a shame to waste a pretty doll like you, I could’ve used you for so much more,” He scoffed and sauntered away, leaving me to die alone. My life was slowly ebbing away from me. I saw no light, only a depressing darkness that consumed me.

I sucked in as much breath as possible, forcing myself to stand. I panicked. I couldn’t breathe. Was I suffocating? What is happening? I tried to walk only to fall down, crashing down on my legs. I put my hand against my throat, checking to see if I was coughing on something but nothing was there. I continued to suffocate. Someone rushed to my side.

“Stop trying to breathe, just let go doll,” I recognised the voice and stepped away, ending up standing in a pool of my own blood. “I’m trying to help now unless you relax, you’ll die and re-awaken again and again so just relax,” He truly seemed worried, slightly scared but worried. I calmed down, trying to listen to what he was telling me. “Right, now just let go. You don’t need to breathe anymore, trust me?” I didn’t want to trust him, how could I? I mean he shot me then bit me or whatever. I released the tight knot in my throat. I went to breathe and nothing happened. My chest didn’t rise. I started to panic again. I looked at the guy for help. “Like I said you don’t need to breathe anymore. I’m Lucian by the way,” he went to walk away so I shouted; “What do you mean I don’t need to breathe anymore? What did you do to me? Where is everyone? If you hurt Alec I swear-“My rant was silence by my neck being snapped in half. He killed me, again.
