Keres

It was a cool afternoon, not too warm, not too cold. I had to stay after school today, as I seem to be doing a lot these past few days. Mrs. Bynes found out that I didn't turn in my essay, I had to write the thing in two hours! It was 3 pages too! Aeron saved me from going too deep into my life choices because the black fog appeared from my necklace again.

"I thought you were never gonna finish that lousy essay." He said stretching mid-air.

"Neither did I, but look here I am," I said. "So what do you need, anyway?"

"Nothing just wanted to chat a little, being lonely isn't fun. And everybody enjoys my company, right?" He said 'charmingly'

"Keep believing and maybe, just maybe buddy," I remarked.

"Hey! Are you saying you don't enjoy my company?" He replied making a puppy dog face. Maybe I do enjoy his company, but I'm never gonna tell him that! He's gonna annoy me even more if I do. "I'll take your silence as a yes." He snickered.

"I...never said yes." He just laughed at my response.

"Are you in a hurry or something?" He asked.

"Yup, need to get home early. My parents will blow if I'm late." I said looking around to make sure no cars were around and walked across to the other side of the road. "Don't think about it too much, though. It's not like I have homework. For once!"

"And, would it really matter if you got home late? Can't we hmmm, I don't know, stall until about 6 or so?" He said suspiciously.

"And why are you asking?" I need to get home, if my parents find out I have to stay after school again, they're gonna crush me... "If you're thinking about doing something to me, then think again. If I get home late than my parents will blow the place up." Turning towards him I see his emotionless expression, but somehow it seemed as though he was smirking.

"If you keep on walking faster than maybe, but let's get some ice-cream first." He said pointing towards StarSoul's ice-cream shop about a block from here.

"Why? I don't even have to work today, Conner already knows that I won't be there. If I go in then he's gonna guilt-trip me into working today!" I groaned.

"Well, your parents don't know that, now do they? You could just say that you went to the library to do some extra homework or something and then went to work? They would totally buy that." He said stopping in front of me and putting his hands to his head, looking like he was deep in thought.

"My parents aren't as dumb as you assume them to be." I spat back at him. Weird of me to stand up for my parents while I'm usually the one who disses them.

"Yeah? But you seem to be. So, yeah, sorry about this." He snaps his fingers and for a second it feels like my soul is being sucked from my body like my breath was being eaten by some invisible force. It took me a while to recover from that, but after I opened my eyes I see that I'm in front of.....MY SCHOOL?! THAT IDIOT TELEPORTED ME TO SCHOOL AGAIN! As I turned towards where Aeron should be, but he isn't there. He probably went back into the necklace....coward.

I hold my necklace in front of me and say. "I'll get you back for this Farrell. If my parents kill me, I'm gonna haunt you for the rest of my afterlife." And started running as fast as I could, which is not very fast. It took me five minutes to even go past StarSoul's ice-cream shop. Panting like a dog in front of the store, I check my phone to see what time it was, 5:28 p.m. I'm a goner if my parents find out I was gone for so long. I start running again. One block away from my house, I see my parents' car turn the corner. Did they go on a search mission? Without worrying I run-up to the security gate and ask the guard standing there.

"Where are my parents going?" I asked him trying to catch my breath.

"Oh, they said they were going on their new company tour or something." He said not even looking at me.

"Ah...uh thanks," I said walking inside and running up to the main gate. I open up the main gate to the living room and climb the two flights of stairs to my room on the third floor. I throw my backpack beside my bed and plop down on the bed thinking about how careless Aeron was and how lucky I got with my parents leaving. After I had caught my breath from all that running. I stand up dead center in my room and yell out.

"AERON! GET OUT HERE, YOU RECKLESS IDIOT!" I screamed at the top of my lungs. Surprisingly, Aeron did come outside, but so did...Keith? But there was no fog this time...

"You know, it's rude to call the person who saved you an 'idiot'," Aeron said looking outside the window.

"...why's Keith here?" I said pointing towards him.

"Why? You got a problem? I just thought you might want an explanation and you know how horrible Aeron is at explaining things." Keith replied.

"Jeez, if only you talk to me this much." Aeron, of course, targeted that to Keith. And Keith just ignored him.

"I didn't call you out to settle your problems. We're here to settle my problem today, we could form a committee about why Keith doesn't talk later." I said waving as if I could just push the conversation aside.

"It was all Keith's idea," Aeron said pointing at Keith.

"Sure, blame it on the smart kid, why don't you?" Keith spat back at Aeron, making him flinch. "And Aeron only did that because I told him to, so I guess he's off the hook."

"What??? I could have gotten killed because of this!?" That was an exaggeration, yes, but the punishment I would get would probably be making me wish that I'd rather have died.

"So here's the thing, you know how your parents argue sometimes?" I nodded. "Well that's what was happening, your parents were fighting over something again, and mostly if they saw you come in late, they would get more mad, and following suit, you would get mad at us for even talking. And since your parents were about to leave for their tour, because of their bickering I doubt they would have checked to see if you were there or not. So yeah, you should thank us for saving your butt. But then again we did this so you wouldn't get mad at us." Keith said taking in a deep breath after talking so much. And I opened my mouth to talk but Aeron put his hand over my mouth and hushed me.

"Somebody's here," Aeron said looking towards the door. I tried pulling his hand away but it wouldn't even budge. "Just don't talk out loud, whoever it is outside can't hear us, but it can definitely hear you. Nod if you won't say anything." I nodded and he removed his hand and just shoved me towards my bed. Me tripping over my own feet fell down, luckily I was close enough to the bed to fall on it. I gave Aeron a death glare as he sat down at the foot of my bed.

"Sorry, I really thought you could handle it." He said sheepishly. "Oh, and Keith's writing a spell over there so don't disturb him." He said pointing towards where Keith was, he was writing down something in the air. But I couldn't really make out what he was writing, it was a totally different language. We just sat there until Keith nodded towards Aeron. I'm questioning whether they still remember that I'm here.

"Hey, Keres, you know how I said that there's somebody outside your door?" I nodded again. "Yeah, it's one of the security guards from the main gate, I mean...he could just be checking on you since you yelled like you were about to kill someone, or it could just be he's taking rounds? Does it matter what it is?" He said that ever so casually like he was talking about how he watched the paint on his wall dry. I almost screamed 'YOU GUYS MAKE A BIG DEAL OF EVERYTHING STUPID, Y'KNOW THAT?!' but Aeron luckily 'saved' me, as he would say, by covering my mouth again. I swear this guy would make a deadly kidnapper.
