The mission is a mess, dead bodies scatter everywhere, the air smells like rotten flesh, and I
couldn't see through the fog. Our squad is sitting in a broken cement house waiting for reinforcements to arrive. The mission was to extract samples of the plant that contains the virus, but the only thing we care about right now is to survive and get out of here. I took a sit and tried to relax, and examine whats around me, to possibly kill some time. The first thing i noticed is my squad, clutching their guns and looking outside, their faces as tense as not before. There's Justin, the chickboy. He's probably got girls waiting for him at his place. You can probably ask him any advice and he'll surely give you a damn good one. Now he looks like he's seen the most horrific stuff in his life. Next to the dashing man is the entitled Liam. He's a short guy who does not give two sh*ts about whatever his team says, Liam does things his way, no one even knows how he is still alive at this point. Faint gunshots can be heard from the distance, probably from other squads, and not from our adversaries. I hope. I looked over to the buff man, standing near the shattered window, his right hand holding a modified AR-15 and a cigarette at the left. He's Ben, a past weightlifter now a special forces soldier, and a friend of mine. A finally like-able man from the team, he's friendly and he always got your back, and as a past weightlifter he can lift a lot of heavy stuff you couldn't lift. So Ben kinda became the juggernaut for the team. Then there's me, Logan. Sitting on a pile of plywood. I signed up for the military because i want to protect my family. You cant get jobs easily these days, Almost half the human population are dead because of this 'Izipla Virus'. Since I cant get other jobs, I signed up for the military. I also did it for the payment, to care for my sister. She didn't like my decision, i didn't either, but there was no other choice.

Headquarters suddenly spoke on the comms, "Sierra-Niner this is HQ, multiple threats approaching from the south, you are outnumbered, re position immediately. I repeat, Multiple threats incoming, re position immediately". We all suddenly stood up, Justin spoke in a shaky but low voice, "F-fuck, when did they start using thermal scans". I walked and peeked at the window Ben is using, and it surprisingly overlooks most of the south buildings. Then i spotted, eleven enemies, checking dead bodies, no one using a thermal scanner. I looked at my squadmates and i spoke in a low enough voice, "no scanners, lets be quiet, keep our head down and lets get out of here." everyone including Liam followed me outside the house. While crouched, we tiptoed to the east side of the house, since the enemies are going right. We stopped behind a house. We looked at the enemies, and we noticed something that's off with them. There are only six now. Ben shouted, "Tango! Northeast!". Ear-piercing gunshots followed. The enemy fired, and we returned fire. A grenade rolled past my feet and rested on the ground for a few seconds. It has no pin.
