01: The Wink

   Everyone is deep into their game besides me. I'm sitting comfortably watching the boys play Dig Dug, while they're still trying to pass Max's high score. But I can't be bothered to play anything right now cause I'm so anxious about that red haired beauty comming in any second. And you would think they would be here by now considering how fast her asshole brother drives.

  "Come on El, play with me!" Mike says cheerfully while smiling at me. "Okayyy!" I give in, cheerfully, still stressing about Max comming in. She thinks me and Mike are dating. But in reality he just has a really big crush on me. So I don't want her to see me playing with him. Cause that will give her more of a reason to think that we are dating. And somehow he doesn't think I know about his crush on me but it's so obvious. Matter of the fact I don't even know if I even like boys. Plus I've never kissed any one. And the only person I could even imagine kissing is probably my best friend Max.

   As I hear the door bells ring when it's opened, I quickly walk away from the Arcade Machine to see who it is. And my heart starts racing in hopes of it being Max. I see the beautiful girl walk in with her skateboard in hand. While the blue Chevrolet swerves off way faster than necessary. "Max! You made it." I cheer while running up to her. "Well yeah, I couldn't pass up on going to the arcade with you nerds." She says as we give eachother a big hug. As we haven't seen eachother in a week cause her brother grounded her from seeing anyone and locked her window up so she couldn't sneek out and no one could get in thru it agian. "I was starting to think you weren't coming." Lucas says playfully to Max. We all chuckle at what he said, since we were all thinking it. "Yeah, Sorry, Billy was being a dick head again." Max says while rolling her eyes over the thought of her brother. Then Max walks over to see what Lucas and Dustin are playing. "You two are never going to give up on beating me are you?" Max jokingly says to the boys still obviously are  trying to beat her score. "No.." they reply in unison. "Mhm okay whatever you say." They keep sqabling while I'm finishing the round with Mike. "HA I finally beat you Mike Wheeler!" I say victoriously. "Yeah one time out of how many?.." Mike claims back. "Shut up!" I reply jokingly while laughing. Max giggles over me and Mike's play arguing. "What are you laughing about red?" I say while smiling like a fool. "Nothing.." She says while still laughing.

Max and I take a seat to catch up on what we've missed in the week that we have been apart from each other. It feels like I haven't talked to her in forever but at the same time it feels like I just talked to her a day ago. And oh god do I wish I could talk to her forever. But her brother barely lets her leave the house.

Our conversation gets interrupted by Mike.
"El! Are you still comming to the sleep over at my house with the rest of us?" "Yeah." I respond. "Max do you want to come? As I quickly turn and say to Max. "Uh yeah if you guys want me to." she replies. "Well of course we want you to stay! We all say back in unison. "Okay then I'm comming! She says cheerfully to us. "Who's going to bring the snacks?" Dustin says curiously considering he's always thinking about food. Classic Dustin, I think to myself. "Er, I don't know but my mom should be ordering pizza." Mike responds. "Okay, Sounds good, and I can bring some candy just in case." Dustin says. Oh, guys, Will told me that he should be able to come. Lucas adds. Okay, and speaking of Will, where is he?" Max asks. "He's at a Doctors appointment, getting a check up or something." Lucas says back.

"Ahh yay, I'm so excited!" Max says excitedly to me. "Yeah, me too! We'll finally be able to properly catch up at the sleep over." I say just as excited, but more. Cause I'll be able to lay next to her in all of her beauty.

We all quickyly look thru the arcade windows as we all hear tires screeching in the parking lot. I look see the dreaded blue Chevrolet honking it's horn repeatedly. Max rolls her eyes, as do I. "Okay, I got to go see you guys later!" Max hurriedly gets out before winking at me and turns away to the main exit.

Did Max Mayfield really just wink at me? I thought to myself. Feeling my blood rush all threw my veins. As far as I can remember she has never once winked at me or even at anyone else. She probably just did it in a friendly way, but it still took my breath away and drove me even more crazy about her.
