The thin line between love and hate

Chapter 8

A week had passed since Lorenzo and Paige had started their little secret.None of their friends were aware of what was going on between the duo.If anybody got suspicious they would make an excuse that they were nothing more than study buddies.

"Do you think they'll ever find out?" Lorenzo asked as he traced a finger on her eyebrows. Paige stared up at his handsome face."I don't know.What will Heather and Brad say?"She asked as she pushed the hair back from his forehead.Lorenzo grasped her hand gave it a kiss.

"I don't know and I don't care!You're mine if they can't deal with that then they can go to hell!" He answered determinedly as he pecked her lips word after word.They were currently in his bedroom "studying" when the topic about their friends suddenly arose.

"I don't how I'm going to tell Paula and Chase, I mean Paula has had a crush on you since junior high and Chase well we've been dating since middle school." Paige said as her mind drifted back to the past.Lorenzo frowned down at her "You mean after you broke my heart?" He said in a deep taut voice.Paige glared at him and sat up."If I remember correctly, you broke my heart!"She replied.

Lorenzo jumped from the bed and walked from one side of the room to the other."I broke your heart?I broke you heart?"He asked before he released a dark laughter.Years of undug memories were finally unburied.Lorenzo could feel the pain of his first heartbreak as if it was just the previous day.

"You know what you haven't changed one bit, I thought maybe you had learnt from your mistakes and you had learnt to accept them!" Paige said in a wavering voice as she got onto her feet and tried to find her bag from where she had dropped it.Lorenzo grabbed her arm and pushed her back onto the bed.

"Where do you think you're going?" He screamed at her."Home!"Paige screamed back at him as she got back onto her feet but Lorenzo Pushed her back."You are not leaving this place until we talk things through!"Lorenzo said in a low, deep voice, as he clenched and unclenched his hands for self-control.

Tears filled Paige's eyes as years of hurt, washed over her.She couldn't look at Lorenzo, he had hurt he terribly and it couldn't go away by just talking it out.She stared at her hands and fidgeted with them.She heard as Lorenzo pulled something from a drawer before dropping it at her feet.Paige could feel the air get kicked out of her lungs as she stared at the sparkly,blue tin box that looked identical to hers before she burnt it.

"In that box is a letter I received from you, aren't you going to find out what it said?"Lorenzo asked mocking her."I had kept it as a simple reminder of the hatred I had towards you but, hating you is the hardest thing I've ever done paige.I love you i don't know for how long but I love you!" He continued his voice wavering making Paige shake her head in denial.

Lorenzo dropped to his knees as he began sobbing."This is how messed up you've made me.I hated you so much I didn't know when I started loving you.I love you so much it hurts!"He said his voice heavy with emotions he didn't know were buried in him.By the time he was done, Paige was a sobbing mess.

"Don't cry!Please don't cry!" Lorenzo begged as he crawled towards her.He pulled her into his arms and rocked back and forth as he tried to comfort her."Baby please!"He said in a gruff voice causing her to cry harder.

After half an hour later,Paige finally calmed down.She opened the letter and her jaw dropped in shock as she stared at the handwriting that resembled hers.She stared at Lorenzo, who stared back at her no emotion written on his face.His eyes were puffy and nose red from all the tears he had shed.If times were different, she would have burst into laughter but that wasn't the right time.

"I didn't write that!" Paige finally said after reading the letter."Leo, you know I wouldn't dare to write something like that."She said softly as she placed her hand on his thigh.Lorenzo picked it up and kissed her fingernails one by one."I know, that's why we have to find out who did this!"He said as he pulled her into his arms and kissed her forehead.

"Hey honey!" Patricia called as Paige entered the house and walked upstairs."Hey mom!"She answered back, after the long take she had with Leo she was left exhausted.It still baffled her that someone could be so mean to break their friendship.

She dropped her bag and closed her bedroom door behind her.She changed into her baggy shirt and pajama shorts and crawled into bed a few minutes later, her phone buzzed Paula's name flashed on the screen.
"Hey!"She answered as she pulled the covers over her.Paula shuffled abit on the other side of the line "Guess what?" She screamed causing Paige to wince and pull the phone away from her ear."What?"She asked curiosity eating her up.Paula giggled before answering her "So a friend of a friend invited me to Chad's party!"

Paige frowned as she stared up at her ceiling. "So?" She asked still unsure of where the conversation was heading.She smiled when she heard Paula groan in frustration."Well Lorenzo is obviously gonna be there and since you don't want me to hang around when you are tutoring him, how about you tag along and be my wingman"She finally replied.

Paige rolled her eyes, her best friend was unbelievable.Parties wasn't her thing and she never got any invite to attend any."I don't think I can be able to make it, I've got to study."She replied into the phone, Paula groaned from the other side of the phone before hanging up.
