Soon we arrived at the football field. I was busy studying for my final exam and I ignored all the things that Nick were doing. He came to my seat. His face was mad.

"Why weren't you watching?" He stared at me, furious.

"I need to study," I said, without even take a look at him.

"You think that studying is more important than me?" he looked sad, but I can see a slight smile on his face.

"......." That was his very typical trick. I had no words to say except for keep looking at my notes. "Nicolo," I finally came up with something to say, "I actually want to tell you something."

"What?" He looked at me curiously.

"My whole family is moving to Milan," I said, "my parents want me to attend gr 11 there." I finally said this out. This was such a relief. From the moment which I said it out, I was avoiding having an eye contact with him. It was hard for me to say this out. Growing up in Massa, he has always been a good friend of mine. We attended to the same school, our parents were good friends and of course, we shared similar hobbies.

It was early June and summer breeze of Massa splashed at my face. My hair was a mess. I stood up and started to walk away from the football field. He followed. Unlike being very talkative, he was extremely quiet.

I turned around and looked at him. He was staring at the ground for the whole time and I could hear some sound of sobbing.

"Nick, are you crying?" I asked

"No!" He suddenly ran away. I was surprised. I did not even know what happened to him. Why was he being so emotional and sensitive? Was it because of the news that I was moving to Milan? It was not really a big deal.

I returned home. I asked my papa what was happening with Nick but all he responded was that I am going to find out the answer in the future. I went back to my room and even skipped dinner.

On the day of leaving Massa, Nick and his family came to my house to say goodbye to my parents and me. When I saw Nick, he grabbed my hands and he led me to a corner.

"It's been a pleasure growing up with you," he said.

"Nick, are you alright?" I asked. It was weird and new to me that he was being so emotional. Growing up with me, he had always been the kind of guy who is super popular and always tell jokes. And of course, he is also the type of guy who becomes every girl's dream in school.

"I am gonna miss you," he whispered on my ears and gave me a hug.

"Me too!"

Soon my parents called me up and we walked to the car. Nick again gave me the tightest hug I could ever have.

"Don't forget me," he whispered to my ear.

"Of course not," I grinned.

We finally farewell to each other. He stood solely as I entered the car. The car engine started. I looked back and saw him waving. I realized that he mouthed a word but I could barely recognize what that was.

It was years later until I knew that hesaid 'ti amo"
