Chapter: Yuchan

"Are you ready now?" I hear Chan through the closed door followed by a series of knocking. Despite the fact that he's waiting for me for a good ten minutes now, his voice seems as cheerful as ever. "He was the one showing up too early." I remind myself thinking back to the early afternoon when Chan arrived to my house. My morning started with a text of his saying he has shortened lectures today and he can't bare staying alone and with that he basically invited himself to my place. As I had a late start I ended up opening doors to him still in my pjs. I smile recalling his reddening ears and his hands quickly covering his eyes, along with his muttered apologies as he hurriedly hid in the living room while I went back to my own to finish getting ready.

I put on my outfit for the day staying casual with a pair of sneakers, jeans and a shirt I borrowed from him.
I give myself a last clothing check and step to the door. I turn the doorknob and Chan almost falls into the room as if he was learning to the door. My mouth curls into a smile but I don't ask anything about it instead i bid him a question.
"How do I look?" I swipe away some loose stands of hair falling into my eyes. The realisation hits me when Chan's ear to ear smile widens more.
"Like someone, who forgot about their hair." he says laughing and ruffles my hair making it even more messy. "Come on sit here." He orders me back to my dresser and grabs the hairbrush from the table. I sit down and let him run his hand through my locks and untangle it at the problematic parts. Once he's finished he lets me tie it into a ponytail but insists on pulling out a few strands for a messy look.

Walking out to the living room I notice a plushie resemling Chan sitting on the couch holding a box of sweets.
"Surprise, surprise." I hear from behind and I feel a hand stroking my waist gently as he moves forward to the toy. He takes it from the couch and puts it in front of his face.
"Please take good care of me." he says in a high pitched voice. "And enjoy the chocolates." The tiny arm waves towards the colourful pack laying on the pillow. Hearing me giggle Chan sticks his head out on the side.
"Do you like it?" he asks, anticipations shining in his eyes.
"I like it a lot." I take a few steps to close the distance between us and hug him as a reply. His arms wrap around me like they always do. Our moment is interrupted by my stomach glowing into the silence.
"Have you eaten?" he questions immediately sounding serious. "Do you want to grab something before we head out?"
"I've had a toast for breakfast. Other than that..."
"Well my favourite food place is on the way to the park anyways." he squeezes me slightly before letting go. A little packet of candy lands in my hand. "Until we're there you can have this." he says.
"I'm not that hungry." I say but obediently open the bag. The sweet smell of the treat makes my mouth water. I take out a piece and stick one between Chan's surprised lips too.
"Do we have everything we need?" he asks a little flustered after swallowing.
"I'm all ready now." I say taking my keys and wallet placing them in the bad hanging on the coat rack. Chan nods assuredly and swings the bag over his shoulder. "Let's go!" he chirps happily.

He sticks with his plan and we stop at the local diner. He places our orders for take-away and while we wait he excitedly explains everything about the meals listed on the menu. After we receive our go-to snacks we head to our original destination. We walk casually, fingers linked while munching away and chatting about nonsense topics. When we arrive at the park Chan swiftly steps behind me and my world goes black. "Chan?" I stop in my tracks and try to pry his hands down. "What are you doing?"
"Promise me you won't look." I hear his soft voice close to my ear. "Keep your eyes closed until I say so."
My curiosity tries to take over but I still do as he requested when moments later I feel his hands disappearing from shielding my eyes and then taking a hold of my unsure hands. "Just follow me." his reassuring voice directs.
His thumb strokes the back of my palm before pulling my hand forward making me walk again. I take a few careful steps before placing all my trust in Chan next to me. We walk slowly Chan occasionally warning me about uneven ground and guiding me by lightly holding my waist with one hand. He brightly humms as we stroll for what seems to be forever. At times I'm really tempted to check where we are but my promise to him reminds not to do so.

I suddenly feel his hand leaving mine. I stop instantly with a confused expression on my face. Quietly calling out his name gets me no answers. Wondering if he's playing a trick on me I open my eyes slightly to see if he's anywhere near. His tall figure is nowhere in sight. I open my eyes wide and check again. I turn around and finally notice him sitting on the side of the lake smiling. He waves in my direction then pats the grass next to him. I sigh relieved and start to approach him with a plan of revenge in mind. Getting behind him I crouch down and start to tickle his sides mercilessly. His voice cracks as he lets out my favourite kind of laughter. He's trying to defend off my attacks and fighting back but I'm in a better position until he swiftly pulls me by my arm making me fall into his lap. Having the upper hand this time he tickles me enthusiastically. Our laughs mix together under the clear sky. He gets out of breath shortly and just caresses my skin with his precise fingers. "Maybe I deserved that." he agrees with a smile. I chuckle and get myself in a comfortable position leaning against his chest. I can hear his heartbeat slowly going back to it's normal state. Listening to it as comforting as ever and I unconsciously match our breathing together.

"Did you have fun today?" he asks placing a kiss on my top of my head. I humm a yes as an answer and stare up at him. "Are you sure?" he grins pulling me a bit closer. I respond with a nod and my mouth slowly curls into a smile when he moves his head a few more inches closer to mine.
"It was perfect." I finally give him the answer he was waiting for. Our faces are so close to each other that I feel his breath on my skin.
"Thank you." he whispers in a serious tone. His eyes track the outlines of my lips. I flutter at the sudden attention and bite my bottom lip.
"What are you thanking me for?" My eyes meet his for a short second before he closes his and leans in to close the gap between our lips. I feel a small peck on the corner of my lips but it disappears quickly. I reopen my eyes and see him smiling at me. He says thank you again followed by a another peck, this time on my nose. I can't help but chuckle as he playfully places his kisses all over my features.
"Thank you for everything." he replies to my question finally with a last kiss near my left ear. We stay snuggled together for a while enjoying the view and each others company. When the park starts to get empty we decide that it's time to get going aswell. On our way back Chan insists on carrying me on his back because he still feel bad about leaving me alone for a short time at the lake. He holds my thighs securely around his hips, my arms hug his shoulders tight. I let my fingers run through his hair from time to time.

Arriving at my doorstep he carefully puts me down and instantly turns around to embrace me. I surprisedly laugh into his chest hugging him back. "Thank you for today." I say with a soulful voice. "It was fun. Really." I look up to stare into his eyes.
"I love you. Really." he replies with a grin and places a kiss on my cheek. He lets go of me after gently squeezing my hand one last time and watches me opening the door. Stepping inside I turn around to close the door and see him standing still with his ear to ear smile, waving happily. I wave back before I let the door block him from my vision.
