It was June 27th and we had just finished our last GCSE exam and were finally free of that horrible school. My friends and I were so done with year 11 and the so called outstanding school that we decided we would all burn our left over school books together as a final farewell to the school we had grown to know. We all went home to change and agreed to meet outside the school for around 6pm.

The time arrived for us to burn our books and finally have nothing to do with or remind us of the years we would grow to miss. I made my way up to the school (only a 15 minute walk from my house) and met my friends Abi and Bethany just outside the school gates. We knew it wasn't the safest idea to burn the books outside school so we went into the town centre, bought a fire bin and went into and old abandoned area of the woods near school.

We looked around for an open area of the woodland and set the fire bin up ready to burn all our books. We took it in turns one by one to burn our books for each subject (starring with maths of course) until we had no more left to burn. By this point it had gone dark and the only light we currently had was the light from our fire blazing in its glory.

We had all told our parents that we were staying at each others houses but we had other ideas than your typical overnight stay. The plan was we would wait for it to go dark and have a walk around the woods and try and scare the late night runners that often came running through this section of woodland. We did this for many hours creating our own entertainment from the frightening screams of innocent passers-by.

Once we realised it was gone 12 o'clock we decided that it was time to head home but there was one more thing we wanted to try before we went home to lay our heads to rest...
