It's Friday, the 15th of December and I'm about to finish my last lesson of school just before break. Emmett is in San Francisco for a football game but he promised he'd be back in LA in time for my callbacks tomorrow. My mother and father went with him to the game so I've here alone for a few days now, reliant on my friends and Uber to get me where I need to go if it's too far to walk. I have to admit, as nice as it is to have a quiet house all to myself, I do miss that big teddy bear and my parents, and it gets lonely. So, to save myself from boredom, etc., I decided to hit up Jess and have her over for a sleepover.

I texted her and she sent me one back shortly thereafter in excited agreement. Within twenty-five minutes she is knocking on the door to the apartment. I open the door and she smiles cheerfully with a purple pillow under her arm and a denim backpack resting on her shoulder along with her French braid cascading down to her bicep. I welcome her in and we make our way over to the couch, turn on some music with surround sound speakers and decide to make some lunch.

After eating we lay sprawled out on the living room floor. I lay resting on my back, my legs up on the couch, my ankles crossed, Jess was beside me doing the same. We held our phones above our faces and silently prayed they didn't fall on us, occasionally glancing over to the other's screen and then over at their face to smile at them. All of a sudden Jess sat straight up, swinging her legs down from the couch to bend at her side as she leaned over toward me, her left arm supporting her.

"Oohhh, wait, dude," she began as she lightly shook her head, "ok so who is gonna be at your callback today?"

I thought for a second as I sat up and met her at eye level, moving my legs to rest in crisscross-applesauce on the floor. I peered up at the picture of my family on the wall above the couch as if doing so would tell me the answer.

"Uhh, Nesta, Gia, possibly Elain, and..."

Ba-ding. I'm cut off by the sound of my phone buzzing and dinging where it sat on the floor beside me. I didn't so much as glance at the name on that lit up my screen before Jess read it and snatched up my phone. I objected as she flipped to the right to lay on her stomach, her knees bent, raising her feet from the ground to dangle. She propped herself up on her elbows and began reading the message from Jared aloud.

"Hey Annie, just wanted to say good luck today. That is, assuming you're still coming to callbacks?" Jess let her hands drop to the floor as her head fell to the side, her gaze pointed to her right towards me and her mouth hanging open. "You've got to be kidding me."

"What? What have I got to be kidding you?"

"Jared-freaking-Foster?!" She exclaimed. "That's who you've been talking to? Anns you told me he was an actor, you didn't say he was the hottest teen actor currently gracing screens all over the world."

I tried my absolute best not to bust out laughing at what she said. "Well, I wouldn't exactly say that..."

Her jaw dropped impossibly lower as she laid there staring at me. She jumped to stand on her knees with a thud. "You do realize what this means right?" She said taking one step closer to me.

"Um... that I'm acquainted with a major actor and you're excited about it?"

She groaned and hung her head back. "No smartass, it means that you're not only in the big leagues, but that the cutest guy in the world according to half the female population of the human race has a crush on you!"

I fought a smirk that was growing harder and harder to cover. "Okay, so? What am I gonna do about it? He's Jared Foster. I'm just Annie."

She rose to her feet, clenching my phone in her right hand as she looked down on me who remained seated on the floor. "Just Annie? Just Annie?!" Her voice grew more intense and confident with every word that she launched from her mouth. "If I ever hear you say you're just Annie again, I will personally pummel you. You are one of the smartest, funniest, most gorgeous girls I have ever met, and my sister's a model."
