When I got up the next day I knew it was going to be interesting. The first
day of school
I left the house and 6:30 like I normally do for marching band practice. It was about a 15 minute walk to school. I walked past all the sleeping houses and wished I could just sleep in one more day.
I was trying to enjoy the quiet when I heard someone calling my name.
"Lilly!" It was Hunter. "Oh wait, its Lillian now. My bad." he said, catching up to me.
"Can you help my find the locker room?" He asked. "Or are you too nerdy to know where that is?"
Seriously?
"I know where they are." I said bitterly.
"Oh. Great." he said.
We walked the rest of the way in an awkward silence.
Finally we reached the school and walked in the door.
"The locker rooms are that way." I said pointing down a hallway.
"Thanks." he said and walked away.
"I had the most awkward walk to school today." I told my friend Katrina, Kat, at lunch.
Kat has been my best friend since the 1st grade. She was blond and had nerdy glasses. She was actually one of the most beautiful girls at our school but choose to be friends with me. Ironically, she looked like the Kat of that show, dance academy.
"So Hunter's back? He's really back?" she asked.
I nodded.
"He's a complete jerk." I told her.
"Is he hot?"she asked
"Yes he's completely gorgeous." I said.
"That sucks. He's hot but he's a jerk." She said.
"I know."
"Speak of the hot devil." Kat muttered under her breath as Hunter walked up to our table.
"Anyone band nerds sitting here?" he asked pointing at a seat.
"Why don't you sit with your soccer friends." Kat told him.
"Well, I wanted to meet Lilly's, excuse me, Lillian's pretty friend." Hunter told her.
This wasn't going well. Kat hated to be hit on.
"Lillian's pretty friends thinks you should sit with your soccer friends. They're all jerks too. You'll fit in better."
Hunter took that as an invitation and sat down.
"Seriously?" Kat asked.
Hunter just shrugged.
Just then Eric, our best friend, ran up to the table.
"Mrs. Wheeler is out to get me I swear." he said breathless. His messy black hair stood out in all directions and his shirt looked as it had been jostled all over the place.
Now I would never like Eric romantically. And though he may sound disheveled, he was very attractive. The scattered look worked for him.
Eric looked like he was about to launch into a story about why Mrs. Wheeler hates him when he noticed Hunter.
Eric narrowed his hazel eyes at Hunter.
"Um hello." Eric said. "Who are you?"
Hunter's light blue eyes met Eric's dark brown ones and said "I'm Hunter. Who are you?"
