The next day I walked to school with Hunter.
"Good morning." I said to him.
"Morning." He replied. The. he looked over at me with a smirk on his lips.
"What." I asked.
"So what made you want to come to the party?" Hunter asked me. "Was it my stunning good looks? My charming personality?"
"None of the above."
"You just wanted to spend time with me then, because I'm so amazing." Hunter said cockily.
"Why did I even bother talking to you?"
"Because you want me." Hunter said.
"Why did I even bother talking to you?" I asked him.
Hunter chuckled and threw his arm around me.
I squirmed trying to get out of his hold.
"Don't even try to deny it." Hunter said. "I know you want me."
And with that I ran to school. My day was pretty normal durning my first few periods Latin 4, English and band. The finally I could go to lunch.
I was walking to the cafeteria when I heard someone call my name.
"Lillian!" they called again.
Crap.
It was Dawson. My ex boyfriend. I broke up with him because he got clingy and creepy.
I started walking faster.
"Oh come one." Dawson said catching up to me. "Don't be like that." He says putting is arm around me. "You miss me just as much as I miss you."
No I really don't.
"Dawson," I said. "I have to get the class."
"No, come on. Let's skip today." he said.
"I really can't Dawson." I said and started to walk off when he grabbed me and shoved me against the wall.
"No you're coming with me" he said.
"I'm pretty sure she said no dude." A voice said.
I looked over and saw Hunter.
"She's my girlfriend. She does what I tell her." Dawson said.
"I'm not your girlfriend." I
said.
He wouldn't let go of me.
"She obviously doesn't want you man." Hunter said looking irritated. "Let
her go."
"Yeah?" Dawson said. "What are you gonna do about it?"
Hunter got a cold look in his eyes.
"You don't want to go there." He said. "So let her go."
Dawson must of noticed how tense he was too because he let me go.
"This isn't over." He said and walked away.
"I didn't need you to come rescue me." I said to Hunter walking down the empty hall toward my locker. I was already late so why not go?
"Most people would say thank you, you know." Hunter said leaning up against the lockers beside mine.
"I didn't need your help." I repeated.
"Okay so next time that creep is all over you-"
"I can handle Dawson." I snapped. "I've had to since I broke up with him."
Hunter's eyes went wide.
"You dated that creep?!" he yelled.
"Keep your voice down." I said.
"You dated that creep." Hunter said in a hushed whisper.
"It was long time ago." I said bitterly. "I don't see how it's any of your business."
"It's not." Hunter said. "Just don't know why anyone would want to date that." he continued with a disgusted look on his face.
"He used to be a lot different." I said. "He used to be sweet and funny and smart..." I looked at the time. "I'm really late for class."
I left him standing by my locker in the hallway. The problem was trying to find something to wear. I, again, pulled out my three dresses to chose from. I decided to wear the lacy plum colored dress with some black slip on shoes.
Then my next problem was the rats nest I call hair. It was still wet from my shower and becoming more and more curly by the minute. I didn't have time to straighten it so I put it in a side braid and left the little curls that wouldn't fit around my face. I quickly brushed my teeth and put my make up on when Kat burst in to the bathroom.
"Could you go any slower?" She asked.
Kat was wearing a tight red strapless dress that with a jean jacket that had tang top like sleeves. She put on her black converse with it. Kat wore those with all her dresses because she couldn't walk in heels.
"Probably." I told her.
Kat sighed and tapped her foot impatiently.
"Alright, alright. I'm done."
"Then let's go party!" she said.
I really wasn't excited for this party. I heard about it every year and it always sounded like a place for teenagers to get drunk and hook up. But Kat loved to party. But since she was friends with me she never got invited to any.
The party wasn't that far away so we walked there. You could hear it from a mile away. The loud music and the sound of my classmates going crazy. The closer we got the more I wanted to turn around.
Soon we were standing on the door step. We opened the door and saw a mob of people dancing and making out. There was a keg in the corner and plastic red cups on next to it.
We found Eric and Hunter standing next to each other. Eric looked uncomfortable while Hunter leaned up against the wall with his arms crossed and a scowl on his face. Eric spotted us and ran over looking relieved. Hunter just stayed where he was.
"What's his problem?" I asked.
Eric frowned.
"He's-"
"Wondering why it took you guys so long to get here." Hunter said. He had appeared out of nowhere.
"Lillian here took forever to get ready." Kat said.
"And yet you still don't look as good as me." Hunter observed with a smirk on his face.
He was wearing a black button down shirt with dark skinny jeans and converse. He looked like a typical bad boy. Which he was, apparently.
"Can we just go dance?" Kat asked.
Dancing didn't last that long for me. I hated being hot and bumped into and I absolutely hated being surrounded be preps. I left after 15 minutes. I grabbed a drink and went outside. There people out side too but it was crowed and it gave me a chance to cool down. Lizzie's house was on the lake like mine so she practically had a beach in her backyard. Except it was a lake not an ocean.
So I decided to get away from the people and go down to the shore. I'm really not and party person. I couldn't even stay more than thirty minutes. I sat down in the soft sand and looked out over the water. It was so peaceful out here. I would much rather have peace than chaos.
I sat there for a long time sipping my drink before I was finally interrupted.
"Oh babe you're missing the party." A creepy voice said breaking the silence.
I knew that high pitched nasally voice way to well.
I spun around to see Dawson walking towards me with a whiskey bottle in his hand. I wonder where he got that I didn't see any in the house.
"You should be in there dancing with me." He continued. "You know, your boyfriend."
Can this guy please get the message?
"Look Dawson-" I started.
"Oh right you always did enjoy the quiet." he said. "We can just stay out here."
"Actually I have to get home my mom will be worried about me." I said and started walking away when he grabbed my arm.
"No babe you can stay a little bit longer."
"I really can't. And I'm not your babe-" I started to say when he shoved me in the sand.
"I said you can stay."
Then a fist appeared out of nowhere punching Dawson in the face.
"She said she had to leave."
Dawson got up holding his jaw and looked at Hunter.
"I think it's time you leave." he continued.
Hunters dark eyes were blazing and his tone was icy. Dawson ended up scrambling through the sand trying to get away.
I stood up and glared at Hunter.
Hunter got a confused look on his face. Which I ignored and stomped past him.
"Hey what's your problem?" Hunter asked.
I ignored him. I started making my way to the side walk so I could go home.
"Would you slow down?" Hunter asked.
I'm not going to talk to him.
Thank God I lived closed and could already see my house but Hunter was still following me asking me to talk to him.
I was in my front yard when I finally answered him.
"Would you stop following me?"
"What did I do?" Hunter asked. "If I hadn't hit that guy you could've been hurt or-"
I turned around and pointer at him.
"I didn't need you to come rescue me!"
Hunter looked taken a back.
"Alright fine." he said. "Next time I'll just let the guy rape you!"
I wanted to scream.
"He wasn't going to rape me! I could've handled it but you had to interfere! Would you just leave me alone?!" I said and walked inside.
I slammed the door shut and went up to my room. I went to bed only to find that the crazed look I saw in Dawson's eyes was going to keep me up all night.
