•••12:43 p.m.: Local Restaurant•••

"Mum, get off your phone please. I thought you wanted to hang out with your daughter, who you haven't seen in a while."

"Honey, I do. I'm just... it has been crazy at headquarters and I need to figure it all out, okay?"

"Okay." Even though it wasn't, I agreed.

We arrived at the restaurant fairly quickly after my mum finally came down. I didn't see either Sam or Niall after our encounter in the elevator. It was fine though. Once I got to the parking lot, I hung out in the car for about ten minutes playing on my phone. I soon got antsy, so I decided to walk around our Apartment's block. If Mum had made me wait this long she could wait until I finished my walk. For some odd reason there was an extreme amount of traffic, cars and hoverboards, today. It took me about twenty minutes for me to finally finished. I assumed Mum would be there by then and I hoped she didn't have to wait too long. I was starting to get worried before I got a good look at our car. My mum wasn't there, so I sat in the car with my phone for a couple of minutes. I soon heard the jingling of car keys and looked up. She apologized and started the car.

Mum took me to the small sandwich joint and coffee shop just six minutes away. We were quickly seated and handed menus.

"Hello, my name is Liam. I will be your server today. Can I start either of you with a drink?" Our server said in a mono-toned voice.

"Water would be just fine, thanks. Mum...?" I look over at my mum to find her still on her phone.

"Mum? Would you get off the phone and tell your drink order to our waiter, Liam, right?" I direct my attention to the nice looking boy.

Liam looks about my age. he has nice brown hair and a cute face. He's wearing the resturant's burgundy tee-shirt paired with black sort of skinny jeans underneath a green waist apron-like-smock-thingy. He has on a pair of black boots as well. He looks pretty miserable and keeps checking the time. I bet his shift gets over soon.

"Just one more minute, love. Headquarters is a mess right now." She doesn't look up.

"She'll have a water too. Thank-you." I flash him an I'm-sorry-about-wasting-your-time smile. He acknowledges it and then disappears.

"Mum, I need to tell you something." I'm going to tell her. I have to. She looks like a lunatic trying to sort it all out and she has already came close to telling me about the, how Sam put it, special circumstance. I should stop second guessing myself. I'm going to tell her. There is no reason for me to keep it a secret. Hell, if Sam knows already, then it's not going to be long before the rest of the Uprising will know. This also includes the Government and I bet they have already told their people and are having a fucking vote on what they should do.

"Blair, I really need to take care of this. I really am sorry."

"Okay, do you at least know what your going to have?" I desperately try to get my mum to have somewhat of an interaction. She's making it too easy for me not to tell her.

"Umhm.... I'll have what ever your having." She still doesn't look up from her phone. What is so god damn important?

Liam comes back and I order for the both of us, two BLTs with avocado on big, buttery toast and a side of fries. He looks just as miserable as before. He takes our menus and disappears again, leaving Mum and I in silence.

Multiple times I try to start a conversation, all ending in 'this important' or 'Headquarter's a mess' and an apology. This is really unlike her. Most times Mum is way too involved in my life. Normally she is telling me to get off my phone, not the opposite. The more she acts more out of character, the more curious I get. I feel like this 'mess' is about the agreement, but what if I'm wrong. I'll probably get in trouble for overhearing.
