"April!"

I roll over and shove my head deeper into my pillow and sheets. "Go away!"

I hear a loud sigh followed by stomps leading up the stairs to my bedroom door. I rush out of bed and am met with a frustrated mum glare.

"Please, April. I don't understand what's been going on with you this week but get your life together come on." She picks up the scattered packets of junk food that missed my bin, "It's the last day of school then you have a whole leaver's trip to go on." She says with pleading eyes.

I nod my head and avoid eye contact, embarrassed with my current life state. Mum accepts it as an answer and walks out of my room closing the door behind her. I flop back onto my bed with a huff.

I check the clock and see I have about 20 minutes until I need to leave for school. I live about 30 minutes' walk away from school, so my best friend Cherry comes to pick me up most days.

On the bright side it's the last day so she doesn't have to pick me up for high school ever again...

I go into my closet and pick out a black sweater, then my draws to grab a pair of jeans with my bralette and underwear. Pulling my long dark brown hair into a rough ponytail.

I throw them all on and run out my room snatching my Adidas sneakers on my way out.

I am greeted with 3 adorablystacked pancakes and maple syrup. I scoff them down with my mum smiling down atme, probably thanking God that at least I'm still eating considering my new I don't care attitude to life.

"Bye mum." I rush out grabbing my backpack and phone whilst closing the front door.

"Have a good last day sweetheart!" She calls after me.

I turn and see Cherry fixing her red lipstick in her mirror. At least some things are able to stay the same around here.

I sit into Cherry's little red Suzuki Swift, ironic I know. "Hey, babe!", she greets.

"Morning." I sigh out. She gives me a sympathetic look and pulls out of my driveway.

I look at Cherry. She's one of the most beautiful people I know, inside and out. To people who don't know her, she can come off as arrogant and self-obsessed, but she is the best friend I could ever ask for... Especially during this breakup...

"So, how was your weekend Apple?" Yes, she does call me Apple. We're Cherry and Apple!

"Ehh, it was very eventful you know. I got through tonnes of my snacks and watched lots of rom-com movies whilst crying my eyes out. Casual Sunday, you?" I groaned out.

I could see her visibly cringe. "GIRL! You need to get your act together. Don't let that prick ruin your chance at a great graduation."

"It's hard Cherry. We were together for 2 years and yeah maybe it was a little high school romance, but I really believed that we were gonna last you know?" I could feel my eyes water sightly.
