The journey back to the flat was quiet, mainly because Chris had fallen asleep after a long day. In the silence Jayne's mind started to wonder about the amazing man sitting beside her, and what would happen if Chris or herself injured themselves to an extent that they could never skate again. Chris awoke to the sound of Jayne sniffing.

"Hey, what are the tears for? Everything's going to alright. You heard the doc, I'm fine and I'm only going to be off the ice for a couple of weeks." Chris said pulling Jayne into a hug.

"That's the thing. What if one of us hurt ourselves to an extent where we can't ever skate again? I don't think I could cope without skating, it would mean that I loose so much." Jayne said gently resting her head on his shoulder.

"As much as we don't like to admit it, we are getting older and injures take longer to heal. I am petrified that one day whether it being during the series or in training one of us will fall and won't get up." Jayne said tears falling freely from her eyes.

"What are you saying J?" Chris asked moving to look into her eyes.

"I want..I want to stop Dancing on Ice. I'm sorry Chris but I want to stop while we can still choose to stop and while people still want to see us perform." Jayne said holding Chris's hand.

"Ok." Chris said with a smile.

"Is that it? There's not fight or argument?" Jayne said slightly confused.

"No, because I have been thinking exactly the same thing since my accident. I was just scared to tell you." Chris said squeezing Jaynes hand.

Jayne gave one of her heart melting smiles and gently rested her head on Chris's shoulder. The rest of the journey was silent apart from the sound of the perfectly synchronised breathing between the two best friends.

Back at the flat Chris had settled on the sofa and was flicking through the channels when Jayne came in with cups of coffee.

"You read my mind." Chris said with a smile.

"Of course I can read your mind! I've only known you for thirty odd years." Jayne said kissing his cheek.

"Chris, I hate to ask with you just being out of hospital and all, but what are we going to do about the opener for the start of the series?" Jayne asked sitting beside Chris.

"I feel horrible saying this, and I know I'm being silly but, I won't feel safe without you there." She continued, playing with the sleeve of her hoodie.

"You've been on the ice without me before on the show." Chris said a little confused.

"Yes, but I haven't been hanging from the ceiling or jumping from twenty foot in the air!" Jayne said.

"Fair enough. Tell you what why don't you go to the rink tomorrow and see how you feel, if you feel safe enough then we leave everything as it is. Or we could either find you a new partner that you feel safe with or we just cut the jump completely. Now can we please go to bed, I'm shattered!" Chris said rubbing his eyes.

"I'm sorry Chris. You are straight out of hospital and here I am rambling on about work. Come on let's get you to bed." Jayne said standing holding her hand out for Chris.

"Are we sharing tonight?" Chris asked with a smirk.

"Nice try Mr Dean, but not tonight." Jayne said with a raised eyebrow.

~~~~~~
The next morning Chris woke up to an arm draped over his ribs, as he turned his head slightly he smiled at the sight of Jayne sleeping beside him. He lay for a few minutes just watching Jayne sleep, he had always thought Jayne was beautiful but as she slept Chris noticed how each individual feature was perfect. Chris was brought out of his thoughts with Jayne stirring beside him.
"Morning beautiful." Chris said with a smile.
"Morning Mr Bump!" Jayne said with a laugh.
"I thought we weren't going to share?" Chris said with a raised eyebrow.
"I know, but I was scared you would need me during the night and I didn't hear you." Jayne said trying to hide the blush that appeared on her cheeks.
"Are you sore?" Jayne asked.
"A little. I'll be fine once I've taken some pain relief." Chris said getting out of bed.
Jayne quickly got up and went to the other side of the bed just incase Chris lost his balance.
"Honestly Jayne, I'm fine. You really have to stop worrying so much." Chris said with a smile.
"I know, I can't help it. I always worry when it comes to you. You're my best friend and it's my job to worry about you!" Jayne said with a serious look.
"Well, I'm glad I have someone to look out for me!" Chris said with a wink.
"Will you be alright to get dressed yourself?" Jayne asked.
"Jayne, I have muscle damage, I haven't had my limbs amputated! Of course I can dress myself." Chris said with a smile.
"I know. I was only asking incase you wanted help." Jayne said.
"Do you want to help?" Chris asked with a raised eyebrow.
Jayne rolled her eyes and went to her own room to get ready.
~~~~~~

After breakfast Chris started to get bored.

"Can we please go the rink?" Chris asked giving the puppy dog eyes.

"Absolutely no chance!" Jayne said.

"Come on J, I'm fine honest. I just need to get out of this house! Please?" Chris begged.

"No, because I know you and I know that you will end up on the ice. I'm sorry but we are not going." Jayne said sternly.

"I promise not to go on the ice. You know I can't brake promises with you, come on even for just an hour?" Chris would have been on his knees if he could.

"Ok fine, one hour and then we are coming home, deal?" Jayne said.

"Deal. You have to go anyway, to see if we need to find you a new partner or not." Chris said remembering the conversation from last night.
