Soft wisps of grass tickle my underbelly as I curl up under the beating sun. Soaking up its warmth with my calm blue, half extended wings, a yawn leaves my mouth and I stretch out my front legs.

The sun always makes me sleepy. Warmth has always been my weakness, whether or not it's from the sun. I just love feeling warm, and it floods into my personality.

"Citrus!"

I look to who's calling my name and spot my best friend, Chameleon, walking towards me.

"Hey, Chameleon."

When he reaches my side he drops to the ground with a heavy sigh exhausted. A laugh bubbles up in my chest and I cough to clear it, successfully earning myself one of his best death glares.

"Don't be like that," I scold. "It's you who got distracted in class."

"For like, two seconds!" He defends.

Shaking my head, I lay my head back down on my talons and tuck my tail over my back talons. The warmth being soaked in by my mellow blue and yellow scales helps settle my building nerves. Chameleon follows my example and tucks into himself, stretching out his wings as I am to soak up the sun.

"Queen Glory is planning a new rising sun."

The rising sun is a tradition that is passed down through the RainWing tribe, bringing the start of a renewed time. We haven't had one in just under a century due to our queens' ignorance, but now we Queen Glory from the dragonet prophecy. In my opinion, she's a more fit dragon to lead us compared to all those other queens combined.

Since the war of the SandWing Succession has finally been put to rest, Queen Glory must have been influenced to start a new era. To end the previous era and get as far away from the war and other events that took place. Hopefully our tribes eldest dragon, Handsome can educate her in what must and mustn't be done. Queen Glory may even add her own twist to it.

Tingles pricking into my limbs are the only telling that time is passing.

The platform we're laying on is near the healers' huts. It's been my favourite spot to sun bathe away from noise and the chatter of the village. There's more enclosed space too, as I feel uncomfortable being so out in the open. Chameleon feels the same too, so he comes to join me here often.

The grumble of my stomach pulls us out of our daze and I turn a rosy pink in embarrassment.

"Are you hungry?" I gently poke a talon into his snout. His scales flip to a rainbow of dark blue, green and yellow. From the shade of green he's slightly annoyed, blue hints at sleepy, and yellow is hesitant.

"Five more minutes." His voice is laced with the threads of drowsiness and annoyance. He really hates being woken up, but waking up in general is his strongest dislike.

When my stomach grumbles louder this time to be fed, Chameleon groans and pulls himself to his feet.

Patiently waiting for him to finish stretching and shaking himself out, I nuzzle his wing joint, suggesting; "the largest feeding platform?"

"Everyone should be asleep, so.. yeah."

A smile graces my face and I shoot into the air.

Most of the way towards the centre of the RainWing Village, we jump from tree to tree and race one another to see who's fastest. I quickly learn that Chameleon is faster, but only because he's older and has more experience.

"Only by two years, Citrus."

"Experience is experience." I huff, causing him to laugh at my defeated ego.
