My name is Ingrid and i'm a Nigerian. This story is a fiction and i was inspired by the hurdles and struggles in my country to create this amazing fiction. All Nigerians are aware of how Life in Nigeria is not for the faint hearted as it takes series of struggle on people who weren't born with a silver spoon to get a three square meal a day. But "Becoming"
tell the tales of a rather unfortunate Nigerian lady who has struggled for so long for a particular thing to come through. No she didn't give up because she knew what she wanted and where she was headed. Nigerians are mostly religious people who affiliate all life happenings to spiritual forces believed to be inherited either maternally or paternally. And this young lady although not really a righteous person but she believed in the existence of God or a supernatural being who was in control of the universe. The society has time for every thing, when to begin and finish high school, when to begin and finish college, when to get married , when to work, when to do anything. What happens if life hits us late?what happens if we never get the same opportunity as others? What happens if we don't meet this time? What then should we do? Probably die so society would have it right again. But Vanessa is the main character of this story and she damns this time and made sure she won the race slow and steady. The characters in this story is clearly imaginative and if the story seems familiar, I hope you don't attach names and rather enjoy the story as it's something that could happen to any Nigerian or someone out there.
I hope you enjoy the story and it gives just a little faith to someone out there who has lost it all and needs something to help them hold on.
*please don't fail to comment and vote this piece. I'll try to put up new chapters as much as I can*
