The pilot and the titan. Two of mankind's deadliest weapons. Only the strongest have what it takes to become both a deadly warrior and a controller of a very powerful machine. I learned that lesson from my 95-week long training in the Pilot Combat Certification Course. My father kept telling me to remember what I really am. A man, not a machine. And here I am in a MacAllan-Class carrier with my partner Riley on our way to a planet we barely know about.
Taylor was in his quarters with Riley's A.I. core fixing his helmet's ocular vision.
1LT. Max Taylor: Hey Riley, are we close to the planet?
Riley: The MCS Stockton is currently five minutes and twenty-three seconds away from the planet CZ-55.
1LT. Max Taylor: Guess we better get ready.
Taylor then got his data knife and smart pistol to put in his SERE Kit. He then equips his body armor, tactical backpack and his new, advanced jump kit. Taylor finally fixed his helmet, unplugged Riley's core from his computer and attached the core to the SERE Kit. Afterwards, Taylor headed over to Riley's chassis in the bay with the other pilots and titans.
MCS Stockton A.I.: (P.A.) Attention, all members of the Special Reconnaissance Squadron are to report to Bay 2 immediately.
The MCS Stockton was approaching the planet, CZ-55, and Taylor along with the other S.R.S. pilots ran over to the bay. When Taylor made it to the bay, Clinton, Maretti, Kuroshio, and Conrad were already there.
CWO3. Nick Maretti: Well, if it isn't the new guy.
SFC. Sarah Conrad: Let's go easy on the kid. Besides, it's his first time in the squadron.
1LT. Max Taylor: Good to see you guys, too.
Staff Sergeant Kuroshio appeared from the cockpit of his Ronin Stryder-class titan.
SSGT. Kai Kuroshio: Are you guys ready for the new world we're about to walk over?
SSGT. Donnie Clinton: Hell fuckin' yes. She's a beauty.
The five pilots got together and looked out the window that showed the planet.
SFC. Sarah Conrad: One thing's for sure, the planet looks a lot like our home planet Harmony.
CWO3. Nick Maretti: You guys think this place would have any 'intelligent' life?
SSGT. Donnie Clinton: The only aliens we found are like the primitive animals on Earth.
1LT. Max Taylor: It would be cool if there really is something down there like us.
Then, Commander Sarah Briggs walked into the bay with the other pilots, Captain Walker, Lieutenant Bush and Sergeant First Class Mason.
CDR. Sarah Briggs: Enjoying the view?
CPT. Sebastian Walker: Group! Attention!
The pilots stood at attention.
CDR. Sarah Briggs: At ease. Everyone gather around.
Briggs places a hologram projector on the floor and it displayed a tactical view of the planet.
CDR. Sarah Briggs: Like what we've gone through during briefing, Walker's team would be deployed in the south of the I.M.C. base and Bush's team would be deployed in the northeast. Plant the charges on the base's critical points, detonate and call for the cavalry. Any questions?
SSGT. Donnie Clinton: Anything 'special' down on the planet that we should know about?
CDR. Sarah Briggs: All I can say is there's nothing dangerous. Now, Marauder Corps weapons hot!
Taylor and the other pilots geared up and prepared their titans. Taylor installed the SERE Kit to Riley's chassis and Riley assumed control of the metal behemoth.
Riley: Datacore re-initialized. Ocular system online.
1LT. Max Taylor: Are you ready for this?
Riley: Ready when you are.
Riley opened his hatch and Taylor hopped onboard. The hatch closed and there was pitch black.
Riley: Protocol 1: Link to Pilot. Establishing neural link.
The neural link connected the minds of both the pilot and the titan. Taylor feels his mind extending throughout Riley's chassis.
Riley: Neural Link: Established. Protocol 2: Uphold the Mission. Our orders are to conduct Operation: Red Dragon. Briefing indicates enemy forces present on planet CZ-55. Protocol 3: Protect the Pilot.
The MCS Stockton descended into the planet's atmosphere at high speed and the I.M.C. located the ship. The ship fired its weapons at the base and outposts below and there was many anti-air missiles flying through the morning sky. The ship headed straight to the southern side of the territory close to the base to deploy Walker's team. The team, along with Taylor, stood by to deploy. The titans were hooked up and the doors beneath them opened up. Taylor felt a little nervous since this was about to be the second time he conducted a Titanfall.
SSGT. Donnie Clinton: Hey, Rookie?! I'll see you on the other side.

Taylor watched his team on his left being deployed one by one. When it was his turn, an anti-air missile hit and exploded half of the bay. Riley's chassis remained stuck to the holding mechanism that was jammed by the blast. As the whole bay was falling apart, Taylor, controlling Riley's chassis, reached for the back and ripped off the holding mechanism, releasing both Riley and Taylor. Riley's chassis fell down to the surface and landed on the cliff of a mountain. The landing shook the whole cliff and the ground started to crack. The cliff then collapsed under the titan and sent both Riley and Taylor down the mountain. Riley's chassis got hit with big boulders as it rolled down and the avalanche sent the chassis landing in a place like a swimming hole. Riley was severely damaged and covered in lots of dirt.

Riley: Extensive damage. Warning. Warning. Taylor, are you alright?
