A beautiful writer with even more beautiful stories. Her stories are the full package of action, romance and drama. Her talent is proven by the fact that her first story has more than 1M reads and is in Wattpad picks.
Presenting before you is the very talented writer mahumsheikhMe: Hi sis!
Mahum: Hello!
Me: Congratulations on getting Perfect Scars as a Wattpad pick.
Mahum: Thank you. I never thought that it will go that famous.
Me: Surprises are always beautiful. Here I have a list of questions that a few fans of yours including me want to ask to you. Let's start with them.
Me: Tell us something about yourself.
Mahum: I am a Pakistani medical student. I am a proud nerd (hehe), an old soul, a keen reader, a sarcastic person and a big foodie. The people around me will most likely describe me as an emotionally distant person which I am. I hate pets, love spicy food and have a different crush every week.
Me: That crush part is so me. And I guess every other girl on Wattpad who can't decide between Hayden and Adam. (haha)
Now that you are a medical student and a nerd, what motivates you to write? Because it is said that science and literature usually never mix.
Mahum: My motivation lies in just three words, My Lovely Readers.
Me: That's sweet! How did you get to know about Wattpad?
Mahum: Actually there was a phase in my life when I got really interested in Zayn Malik. So I was searching about him on Google one day when I found a fanfic about him. That's how I got to know about Wattpad.
Me: *sigh* Been there... Done that. I had downloaded almost every pic of his that was available on internet and then for the next few months my laptop had crashed. 🤣
How did you celebrate when you got 1 M reads on Perfect Scars?
Mahum: I didn't celebrate as such. I didn't even tell anyone except my friends.
Me: That was very calm. I would have gone mad and forced everybody to download Wattpad in my house.
But moving on... It is said that books are somehow related to us. Is it true in your case?Mahum: No. All my books are related to romance genre and sadly, I'm not a romantic person. The only person I can relate to in my stories is Xavier, the guy who chose relations and friendships instead of his love.
Me: And the Sister before Mister code is back in action!!
This question was in my mind before I decided any other questions. Why do you keep changing the name of your books? Aren't you satisfied with one?
Mahum: Yes. I know it's a really irritating habit but after a while, I get bored of things, names, characters, displays and even people.
Me: Point accepted.
You write about a culture other than yours. What are the problems you face? Is there a specific reason why you do this?
Mahum: The difficulties I face are mainly due to my lack of knowledge about American culture which I solve by reading other books and researching about it. I don't write about my own culture because as a Muslim, I won't feel comfortable writing about scenes between two Muslims. Because honestly, in my personal life, I don't even talk to boys or sit beside them comfortably, let alone falling in love with them.
