"Mom, seriously, a dress?" my voice rang through the hallway of my three story house. " Yes honey, your grandparent would not appreciate your usual
clothes." she yelled back. "Ugh." I sighed as I pulled out my knee-length one strapped black and white dress. It accented my dark brown shoulder length hair,
and unnatural golden eyes. I am 5"7' and have an athletic body, seeing as how I am in love with soccer and playing football with my guy friends. I am such a
tom boy, skinny jeans, converse, band tees. Just the thought of wearing a dress made me cringe. You see me and my mom are meeting with my
grandparents. They're my fathers parents, and I really never see them. They only call me on holidays, and they scarcely write. My father died in a car crash, I
still feel it's my fault.
~Flashback~ "Dad can you please pick me up? I think I twisted my ankle while running my miles." I asked my father while sitting on a bench clutching
my ankle. "Yeah, I'll be there pretty soon." he answered. I sat there and waited, shivering and in pain, for an hour. "He should have been here a while ago." I
said aloud. I called my mom to see what was going on. "Mom..." that was all I got out. "Casey! Where are you?!" she asked. "I'm on the bench outside of
Jacob's. Why?" I asked scared hearing the panic in her voice. "Your father,.... honey he's been in a crash. I'm coming to get you." she said. I could not breathe,
"..............Is he okay?" I managed to get out. "I'm coming honey." was all she said. I stood up and ran, I took off towards the hospital. "No.... it's not real!" I
screamed in my head. I fought through the pain and tears and made it to the hospital. I ran up to the front desk, " Harvey Ryans! What room?!?" I asked/yelled.
She looked at me in shock, I must have been a complete mess. "Room 713. The third floor, blue elevators." she replied. I took off running as fast as I could
and pressed the elevator button. "Not fast enough!" I took off towards the stairs. I ran and ran until I reached the third floor and room 713. I ran through the
door, and there was my father. Laying in a hospital bed, millions of cords, and machines hooked up to him. "Dad!" I yelled. No reply, his heart monitor was
barley beeping. I ran over and held his hand in mine. "Dad, I'm so so sorry! I should not have asked you to get me.... Why was I so stupid?!?" I burst into a
sob. "I love you dad!" I yelled. A piece of hair fell into my face, and a hand moved it away. " I love you too, baby." he replied faintly. "Remember this, the old
family bridge." Then he flat-lined. ~End of Flashback~
I'll never know what he meant by the old family bridge. Anyway, my grandparents wrote to us the other day and told us they needed to speak to me about
something important. So my mom and I are getting dressed up to visit them in their summer mansion outside of town. The doorbell rang and I ran
downstairs and opened it to see Vincent, my boyfriend. "Vincent?" I addressed. "Ummm Casey? Did you forget?" he asked. "Oh shit!" "Vince, I am so sorry! My
grandparents wrote to me and said the needed to speak to my mom and I about something important." I explained feeling terrible. "I understand baby." he
said. I flinched at the last word, my fathers's last word, "Sorry I did not mean to say that." he said as he grabbed me into a hug. "Well honey we had better get
going." my mom said from behind me. She does not really like Vince. He looks sort of punk with his ear long black hair, and his chocolaty brown eyes.
"See you later Case." he said and pulled my in for a kiss. "Bye Vince." He walked off and got into his 1980's orange Mustang. We met because of that
Mustang. I love the color orange and the 80's Mustang is my favorite car. I told him that and we started talking, and liking each other, then he asked me on a
date and know here we are. I like him a lot. Me and my mom got into my black 2004 Jeep Wrangler, I love it. We took off in the direction of the mansion.
I am so not ready.
