CHAPTER 2: meet the operatives

Great day had lead me to a large meeting room with a table and 14 chairs. "Big room..is this where all of the [OPERATIVES] meet?" I asked Great_day. "Correct. There used to be only thirteen chairs for all thirteen of the [OPERATIVES], but since you are going to be a new [OPERATIVE], There is an extra chair here for you. Take a seat." I listened to Great and took a random seat, it was accross from where he was sitting. "The rest of the [OPERATIVES] will be here shortly." Great stated to me. "Oh, okay." I said hesitantly. I always felt like the [OPERATIVES] were above it all, and that they could do anything they wanted. I mean, I've seen some of them shoot civilians for looking at them funny, so I never tried to get close to them or speak to them.

But now, I'll be among them, it's gonna be weird. I quietly tapped my fingers on the table while I waited, trying to think of something to say when I introduce myself to them.

After about three minutes, I saw somebody walk in. I knew I'd seen them before, it was Radiant_Day. "Oh my, it appears I'm early!" I sprinkled a smile on my face to try and look professional. The new figure seemed to brighten up the atmosphere, and I felt more confident that I could get through this initiation without a hitch. Suddenly, he turned to me and beamed a smile so bright that I could go blind by his happiness. "Oh! This is the new [OPERATIVE] you've been talking about! Nice to meet you.."

"Y/N." I finished for him since he didn't seem to know my name. "Nice to meet you too, [OPERATIVE] Radiant_Day." I shook his hand that he eagerly held out. "Oh please, just call me Radiant!" I nodded and showed a toothy smile. Once Radiant took a seat, two more [OPERATIVES] walked in. They were [OPERATIVE] Emotionless_Day and [OPERATIVE] Benelovent_Day. The nervousness was now starting to get to me.

Emotionless just said nothing and sat down. Benelovent scanned around the room until his eyes landed on me. "Hello there, Y/N." I was a bit surprised that he knew my name, but smiled and replied. "Hello" I waved, this is going good so far.

TIME: 1:02

Almost everyone had arrived now, sitting in seats with no particular order. [OPERATIVE] Unstable_day was sitting next to me, and it was kind of awkward since he was twitching and he nudged me a bit in the process.

There was only one operative missing, it was Scary_day. While we were impatiently waiting for him, I felt a feeling, like somebody was watching me. Before I could turn around to check, i felt a pair of hands wrap around my shoulders. "Boo!" Shrieked the voice of [OPERATIVE] Scary_day. I jumped almost to the ceeling, letting out a little yelp. I went from happy, to scared, to angry in a matter of seconds. The [OPERATIVE] laughed mischeviously while taking a seat next to me. I guess he really lived up to his name. "HAHAHAHAHA LADY GOT SCARED!" Exclaimed Unstable. "Now now, thats not any way to treat a new [OPERATIVE]!" Spoke radiant. I sighed quietly and just continued to be happy. "No, it's alright. I'm sure [OPERATIVE] Scary_day here was just trying to test me to see if I get scared easily." I smiled and put the surfaces of my fingers together, looking around at all of them. Scary_day looked away a bit, was he blushing under his mask?

"Well, as you all know, being an [OPERATIVE] is not easy, so it is a pleasure to have someone that's willing to join us." Great spoke up. Most of them clapped and I beamed. This felt pretty good, I think I made the right choice.

"Now, it may take a while to come up with a code name for you, so for now we will all address you as [OPERATIVE] Y/N. We all welcome you." I smiled brighter and looked around at all of the operatives. "It is a pleasure to be here, and I'll do my best to protect everyone!" In my mind, I sounded confident. The others must have thought so too, because they were accepting me.

Hah, I'm pretty proud of this chapter, 718 words!
