Jack

Chapter 1.

Sophie's P.O.V

Sian and I are just snuggled into eachother on the sofa when my phone buzzes.

"Who's ringing babe?" Sian asks as I reach to pick my phone up.

"No one, just got a text from my Dad." I reply as I open the message.

'Hey Soph, are you at home? I need to speak to you, it's really important. X'

As I read it, my face drops as I try to think over all the different scenarios he could possibly need to discuss.

"What's up Soph?" Sian asks, clearly aware of the face drop.

"My Dad said he needs to talk about something really important.. What though?" I tell her, for some strange reason believing that she would know the answer.

"When's he coming over?

"I told him to come straight round." Just as I say this, the door knocks.

"Hey Dad, hey baby Jack!" I say, hugging my Dad then taking Jack in my arms for a cuddle.

"Alright Soph? Hi Sian." He says as we make our way through the porch and into the living room. Sian nods her head with a smile in acknowledgement.

"So what's wrong Dad? You've not acted this serious in a long time." He honestly hasn't which is worrying me even more.

"I can't do it anymore Sophie."

"Can't do what Dad? You're not making any sense."

"Kevin, what is it?" Even Sian sounds worried.

"Jack.. I can't take care of him, I can't bring him up. I know nothing about bringing a baby up on my own." Of all things, I never thought this would be the problem.

"Course you can Dad, you helped bring me and Rosie up." I try reasoning.

"That's different, I had your Mum's help and I was younger. A lot younger!"

"But you get used to it. Before long, it'll be routine. You'll get to know him and love him too."

"I can't Soph, please." Please what?

"What d'you mean please? Please what?" He's lost me.

"Please will you take Jack and bring him up as your own?"

Oooooooh. What's gonna happen? Had this idea for a while but didn't know how to write it up. All of a sudden, I'm ill, bored and the first 2 chapters just pop into my mind!
