*Winter's pov*

I was numb, staring straight ahead but not really seeing anything. I watched as my fellow brothers in arm fold his flag. One of them placed one hand under the folded flag the other on top. He then made his way over to me. Kneeling before me he placed the flag in  my hands then preceded to salute me. I gave a small nod in return as one tear slid down my cheek and fell on his flag.

I don't know how long I sat there looking straight ahead as I cried silently. Everyone had started to leave the graveyard but I just sat there.

*Kozik's pov*

I stood silently watching and waiting. Five minutes past after everyone had cleared out, when she finally stood. I watched as she made her way to the headstone. she reached out and laid a hand on it. "You know the funny part about this is?" she paused as I made my way to her. "We weren't supposed to be on that assignment. We were on our way back to the states. We were coming home." Her voice cracked a little at the end. "You would have liked him Koz. He was one of the good ones. God why did we have to turn back? It wasn't our assignment. Why?" she turned and faced me. I said nothing letting her get it all out. "Why?! Why him? Why not me? Why did he have to die Koz I loved him. We were gonna get married." That's when she finally started to sob. I pulled her to me and stroked her hair to comfort her. "I don't know Winny. I don't know." I looked at the headstone and read the name. Jake Goodwin.
