Have you ever been asked, if one of your friends or family were to describe you in one word what would it be? Well for Darling Jones it would be introverted.
She is the most introverted of the introverted. The introvert queen. "Darling!" Lydia snapped her fingers in front of her face, taking her out of the trance she was in. "Finally Jones, stay with me here."
"Sorry, Lyds. It's just this is the senior year, then after this, we all go our separate ways. That's scary."
"Remember when we were five and playing dress up in my mum's wardrobe?" Darling nodded for her to continue. "And we pinky-promised to stay friends forever." Lydia waggled her pinkie finger out for her to latch onto which she did with a small smile on her face. Lydia caught sigh of a senior staring at her best friend. "We need to get you a boyfriend." Darling seemed to choke on what was oxygen.
"Pardon?"
"A boyfriend."
"Lydia, the only people who had taken an interest in me, is an alpha twin and an evil Japanese spirit in the body of our friend." She said. "I don't think I am ready for that," Darling said.
"Understandable but look into it?"
"Of course, anything for you Lydia." She said giving her a hug. "But where is everyone? If they brought me here for no reason, I swear to God, I will cry." Lydia giggled at her friend's attitude.
"That's true, where are they?" The headed towards the entrance where they saw everyone walking up.
"Thank God," Darling said throwing her hands up in the air.
"Where have you guys been? The whole senior class is here."
"Are we doing this or not?"
The group of them made their way to the library where they were being handed sharpie pens. "This isn't wrong is it? Can we get told off for this? Is it vandalism?" She asked as she bit her lip and twirled the pen in her hands.
"Darling relax." Scott said squeezing her shoulder. She wrote her initials ' ɖʝ '. She smiled at herself proudly as she passed the pen to Scott who smiled down at the little girl. Before he met Allison, he had the biggest crush on her but she never noticed his feelings.
Scott wrote his own initials then two As in honour of Allison. "She would have been with us." He said in a small whisper.
"Yeah. She still is." The six of them made their way down the stairs leading out of the school grounds.
"See you guys tomorrow." She waved goodbye to all her friends.
Darling made her way to her Porsche, which Jackson gave her upon his departure. She fumbled around her small bag trying to find the keys she felt them but due to the numbness of her fingers she dropped her keys onto the ground.
She sighed as she went to resch for them but another larger hand passed them towards her. "Thanks." She whispered as she looked up at him. Of course she didn't say it out loud, but that boy was a fine piece of work.
"I'm Theo." He said sticking out his hand. "Theo Raeken."
"Darling Jones." She shook his hand with a small smile.
"Darling Jones? From fourth grade."
"Well long time no see." She said rubbing her hand behind her neck.
"Well, I'll see you around, Darling Jones." He left her alone with butterflies in her stomach and a fluttering heart.
