⚠️ LONG CHAPTER; VERY DETAILED THE FURTHER YOU READ 👀💦

After me and my mom came back from a long day of shopping,  we were both in the kitchen. She was currently making some rigatoni for us since we both had skipped out on breakfast. My mom wasn't the type to  really eat breakfast anyway, something about disliking breakfast food.

My mom was stirring the sauce and looked at me. She took a little  tester and tasted some sauce from her wooden spoon. "Mm, delicious.  Needs a little more garlic."

"Mom I'd hate to be a vampire cause all you eat is garlic." I laughed  and placed my feet on the chair next to me. I was eating some boneless  wings I got from the mall earlier.

"Brings out the flavor in the foods. Makes a delicious blend that  will rejuvenate your senses." She hummed softly. "After I'm finished  cooking I'm gonna go pick up your sister from her after school dance  practice."

"She not gonna wanna leave, ma." I snorted. Essence really enjoyed  her dancing that she did. It was her favorite thing to do. She wanted to  be a professional dancer when she got older.

"She gon have to I ain't staying there all damn day." My mom scoffed.  "But before I go I wanna just talk to you about a few things."

"Like what? Is it bad?" I felt my heart drop a little. It was always  nerve-wracking when somebody said they wanted to talk to me. My anxiety  always flew sky-high at that phrase.

"Nah it's not bad, baby." My mom smiled at me reassuringly. "How's  school? June's almost coming up. Ready to walk across that stage cause  after that that's when life hits you. Hard. You thought about your  future and your career?"

Ever since I was in tenth grade I was thinking about my future. I was  always a good kid in school. I was never late to class and I was rarely  in the principle's office. Rarely got detention either. Sometimes I got  suspended cause I was beating bitches up left and right. I was always  at school though. My attendance was good and my grades were the proof in  the pudding if anybody wanted to suck my dick about it. But now that I  was about to graduate it seemed so surreal. Just about my whole life  that I knew it was about me waking up early as fuck to go to school and  see the same faces and deal with the same bullshit. I was going to miss  these high school days for real though but we all knew them middle  school days were golden.

"Of course I'm ready to walk across that stage. I finally did it." I  sighed happily and gave myself a pat on the back. 12 long years but I've  made it to the finish line. "I want to apply to college but I want a  year off for myself. I think I deserve it from all these years  stressing." I laughed and flipped my hair over my shoulder. "I need to  take culinary classes if I wanna be a chef."

"I'm so proud you did." My mother grinned at me and sighed gently.  "You want to be a chef, baby girl? It's different, I support it one  hundred percent."

I smiled and nodded. "I like cooking and baking so might as well turn my hobby into a career."

"I love it." My mother said. "What culinary schools are you looking at?" She asked.

"Hmm," I looked up in thought. "I've been thinking about Le Cordon  Bleu College of Culinary Arts which is located in Chicago or Institute  of Culinary Education which is here in New York so I can be closer to  home."

"Closer to home? Baby you don't need to stay in New York if you don't  want to. I'd rather you travel different places so you could have the  experience." My mother started making our plates. "I want you to branch  out of here and make something of yourself."
