one; in which a character experiments with someone of a gender they don't usually go for

She's trying to look for the silver lining in her life.

But all Summer Evans can see is her best friend sobbing about her long-term boyfriend - that she never even liked, she had no idea why, too - on her bedroom floor, devouring every known chocolate that Summer has ever seen. 

On repeat.

"Can you shut up?" Aleisha sobs, throwing a half-eaten chocolate at the TV - which was currently hosting a Disney marathon in hopes of making Aleisha not feel like shit - and continuing to curl up in a ball and open yet another box of chocolates.

"Okay, you're officially losing it." Summer sighs, clicking the TV off and pulling the box of chocolates out of Aleisha's hands. "Alex wasn't even that great of a guy."

Wrong move.

"Alex was a great boyfriend," Aleisha screams, taking the chocolates back - and almost killing Summer in the process - and continued looking at Summer with a glare so intense she considered walking out of the room, "He just doesn't know how to handle girls sometimes We're in a phase. That's all it is. A damn phase."

"I really hope you go sane again soon." Summer mutters.

"I heard that, you little - "

She didn't walk out of the room. She sprinted. And locked the bedroom door behind.

summer: no

alei: fuck you

summer: no thanks

alei: seriously i want to come out

summer: and i want a unicorn

alei: i'm so over alex i won't complain i swear

summer: and im SOOO over the ending of looking for alaska

alei: fucK you; i tried

summer: still not lesbian; no you didnt

alei: when can i come out of this hellhole then

summer: i'll pick you up at 7

summer: wear something nice

alei: ill wear whatever the hell i want !!!

"Where are we going?" Aleisha whined, stumbling to the car as she put on the heels that Summer had told her "went perfectly with her break-up sass". 

"Shut up." Summer replies, pulling her auburn hair up into a bun with a sparkling black hair tie.

"Okay, you can't just drag me out of your room after locking me in there for over two hours and not tell me where we're going." she scowls, positioning the straps on her black dress and mimicking Summer's hair (except for the fact that Aleisha's hair was caramel-ish colored, not auburn).

"Just shut up." Summer repeats, her blue eyes sparkling in the moonlight.

"I'm not leaving until you -"

"Alei."

"Okay, fine." a pause. "But this better be good."

"A party." Aleisha says, squinting out the car window and throwing open the door slowly. "We're at a party."

"No, Alei, it's a fucking circus full of hormonal, drunk teenagers screaming at each other." Summer snaps, rolling her eyes.

"God, are you on your period?"

"Just get in the fucking house."

"What does it look like I'm doing?"

"Just - "

"No, you shut up."

"I wasn't going to say that, for God's sake - "

"Yeah, you were."

"Okay, so maybe I - "

"Ladies!" a voice interrupts. the sound of a slurred, masculine tone belonging to - none other - senior Kyle McKnoten filling the night. "Welcome! Drinks are in the back," he lowers his voice, "But don't tell anyone! It's a seeeecret!"

And with that, he disappeared back into the house with a scream of:

"Autumn and Alice are here!"

"Why are you laughing at me?" Aleisha frowns, sloppily crossing her arms and plopping on the ground.

"You - " Summer laughs, pointing at her and throwing her head back, "You're so fucking stupid when you're wasted."

"That is not nice, you skunkbag."

"I - oh my god, I can't."

"I'm not fucking wasted. I would know if I am fucking wasted because I am me and you are not me so you don't know whether or not I am fucking wasted! Only I know me, so LET ME DO ME!" Aleisha screams, kicking off her black heels and slapping them in Summer's hands.

"God, you're a crazy person." she grins, sitting down next to Aleisha and sipping from her beer with one hand and holding Aleisha's shoes in another. Cut off by a glare (not the deadliest one, given the fact that Alei was drunk out of her mind), Summer just rolls her eyes. "Alright, alright, you do you, hon."

"Thank you." she replies, smiling and taking another sip of beer.

"Okay, tiger, I think you've had enough for the night. Aleisha replies by simply rolling her eyes, but hands back the beer. There's a long pause.

"You know, I wish Alex was like you sometimes."

"I didn't like Alex, you know."

"I know." a pause. "Why not, though? You never told me why."

"I don't know." Summer shrugged, her eyes shifting downwards. "I just had a bad feeling about him."

"You have a bad feeling about all the guys I meet."

"Yeah, but I just get - " she sighs, giving another shrug. "Jealous, I guess. You're too good for them, Alei."

"You're such a fucking babe. You're the best friend in the world." Aleisha grins, jabbing Summer with her finger.

Summer still couldn't quite grasp what it was. Maybe it was Aleisha's smile, or maybe it was the fact that she was a bit drunk. Nevertheless, that didn't stop her bright red lips from moving closer and closer to Aleisha's. Her eyelids fluttered shut as her lips touched Aleisha's, the taste of beer and her soft lips igniting her taste buds and making her feel like she was on top of the world. Her hand dropped the pair of heels and moved to her cheek, pulling her closer.

Aleisha started to kiss her back. Summer realized what was happening and pulled back.

"I - " Summer stuttered, standing up quickly, the bottle of beer smashing upon the ground. She didn't even notice. "I should go. I - " she stumbled, grabbing her purse and wiping her lips. "I, um, I'll have Lindsey come pick you up, okay?"

"Summer - "

She was already halfway out the door.

i had some really good chocolate ice cream while writing this. anywhom, i know i've stalled this for quite a bit, but i'm really excited to have put this up! the beginning is a bit weak, and i apologise immensely for that, but i'm extremely excited to be continuing with the storyline! the header, by the way, represents where the character (summer) is. hope you enjoyed!
