The Passing of a Day

Standing on the shower fresh porch
At the break of a brand new day
Watching out as the breeze gets strong
And the tall trees start to sway.
Watching as the sun breaks through
Seeing myriad flowers on display
Listening to the honey bees
As they pollinate the lush rosebay.

 Sheltering on the shadowed porch
From the hot sun at mid-day
Drinking ice cold lemonade
Just whiling time away.
For the world around is busy
No time for nature's matinee
Commerce now is the driving force
Not sweet songs from a chickadee.

Sitting on the sun washed porch
In the evening's golden rays
Watching silent shadows creep
Is one of the highlights of my days.
It is a time that brings me peace
A time to enjoy the night's bouquet
As the scent of toil is on the wane
I thank the Lord for He blessed this day.
