Little Bird

A little bird sits on the outside

Waiting for the bigger ones to finish

What they've came to enlarge their pride

She waits and listens to the loud sounds

Of mockery and injustices

Because of breadcrumbs they've found

They squawk because she's not as colorful as them

They're flashy and loud with strong opinions

The little bird weeps and feels she's sinned

She wants to get out because she feels she is not free

Her nest is a cage because she isn't allowed

To play and laugh with other birds that she's seen

She looks at a distance and envies those who could

Joke with other birds about things they've done

One day she knows there will be a time she would

But for now she tries to keep apart

From those birds she sees happily together

And pain goes through her little heart
